In 2017, I graduated from UNC - Chapel Hill with majors in Business and Math. In May of 2021, I completed my masters in math at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities where I also served as a TA and instructor in the college algebra and pre-calculus sequence. Between this and tutoring, I have extensive experience mentoring and teaching students from middle school to college levels. To many, math can be intimidating and non-intuitive. I've found that searching for the intuition behind the math helps students better understand and apply the problems. My favorite teaching moment is when students make connections between concepts and begin developing their own reasoning around math.
As a graduate instructor, I led classes of over 80 students. I taught course material, held review sessions and office hours, and helped write exams. These courses emphasized written and spoken math communication, so as an instructor and TA, I have developed a good sense for good versus great answers.
I have taken graduate level courses in math, computer science, and statistics, with an emphasis on modern applications of math. I'll be joining the Industrial and Systems Engineering PhD program at UMN in the fall.
