About Drew

Bio

My name is Drew and I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2016. During this time I earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education in Mathematics and a coaching concentration. I currently hold a grade 6-12 teaching license in the state of Wisconsin and earned a Master's degree from Augsburg University in 2019.

My name is Drew and I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2016. During this time I earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education in Mathematics and a coaching concentration. I currently hold a grade 6-12 teaching license in the state of Wisconsin and earned a Master's degree from Augsburg University in 2019.

During my time as an educator and tutor I have taught many math classes including: Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Trigonometry. Additional courses that I completed in order to earn my degree include, abstract algebra, linear algebra, Calculus (I, II, III), and probability and statistics.

My experience in the classroom has allowed me to work with students of varying ability level as well as adapting lessons to fit students with IEP's. This training allows me to tailor lessons to an individual while tutoring and find the most effective means ways to help students progress.

My favorite idea about tutoring math is seeing students gain confidence in themselves and develop their critical thinking skills. These concepts, while useful in a math setting, pay great dividends in other classes and in everyday life too!

great geometry tutor

Drew worked with my child weekly for most of the year and his grades in honors geometry increased from the low 80s to the mid 90s. He has taught the material in a way that is easy to understand. We tried other tutors before Drew. My child knew instantly that Drew was covering much more content, and really teaching the material rather than just going through questions. Great tutor.

Drew is a great guy, who is also patient and happy to tutor! Although my son understands concepts learned in Math class, Drew helps reinforce those topics, as well as help out a lot with homework. He is also great when you don't understand concepts in Math class, and if you need enrichment material. He is also great when it comes to Math SAT Prep, as he gives great test taking strategies, and how to solve problems efficiently. I would highly recommend him!

Rebuilt my son's self-confidence

My high schooler struggled through algebra I at home during the pandemic. Missed milestones severely impacted his performance in subsequent math classes. When we came to Drew, my son was failing algebra II and had lost all confidence in himself. He was hesitant to begin tutoring, but after his initial session with Drew, he never again resisted attending. Sometimes, he comes out of his room and tells me how much fun he had during his tutoring session. Fun! That's not a word he has ever used in conjunction with math in the past. After months of weekly sessions with Drew, my son is back on track. He has gone from failing tests to getting the highest scores in his class. Drew has helped him with his mathematical skills, yes, but he has also restored my son's belief that he is smart and capable. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Drew. Highly recommended!

Amazing

Drew had been beyond amazing in helping my daughter. She is a sophomore and was having trouble connecting with her teacher’s teaching style. Drew has been able to break concepts down, is very patient, and my daughter says that he has a variety or ways to explain problems. If she doesn’t understand one he always has another way to help her. Her grade has gone up, but more importantly, she is understanding and learning which is the point!

Very knowledgeable and explained concepts very well

My daughter came to us after her first lesson and said “Wow I loved how he taught. He actually made me understand the concepts instead of just doing problems for me.” This meant a lot to her since she’s been struggling to understand some of the concepts and doesn’t click too well with her class teachers teaching style. We will definitely continue with Drew. Wish we had found him sooner. Thank you Drew for a wonderful first lesson!

Great Math Tutor

My daughter is in 8th grade and has been struggling with math this year. Drew is very knowledgeable and patient and has helped her understand Algebra concepts much better and prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes. He is provides examples and practice material so she grasps the concepts. He’s also very quick to respond and flexible with schedules if needed.
