University of Iowa (Engineering)
I graduated in May from the University of Iowa with a degree in Environmental Engineering. I served as a math tutor for engineering students for over 3 years and focused on calculus, calculus 2 as well as linear algebra and differential equations. I also served as a lead tutor for a year and during that time, I gave reviews to students in all engineering math classes in order to prepare them for their examinations.
When working with students, I like to ask a lot of questions to make sure they understand the process of whatever we are working on. I'll ask questions like "Does that make sense" or "how would you approach this problem" to make sure students are actively engaged and are not simply going through the motions. I also strongly encourage the use of whiteboards during tutoring sessions to promote active learning.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received a good grade in algebra 2 when I took it and have experience tutoring students in algebra 1 and 2.
I tutored calculus to engineering college freshmen for 3 years with the engineering program and also tutored calculus while I was in high school to my fellow peers. I have developed tricks and fun ways to remember certain aspects of calculus and always want to share them with new students.
I recently graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering and a minor in mathematics. While studying at the University, I tutored for 3.5 years at the Engineering Tutoring center. My main subject of focus was math and my favorite subject to tutor was differential equations. I also became a lead tutor and led multiple reviews every semester for differential equation exams.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering and a math minor. My overall GPA in my math classes was a 3.49. During college, I tutored in the Engineering building for 3.5 years and mostly focused on math. During this time, I came up with different ways to study for linear algebra and can share those methods with students.
