About Ryan

I am a practicing Electrical Engineer who graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in May of 2016. During my time there, I took a few teaching classes and taught students in a classroom and one-on-one settings. I have had classroom experience at an elementary school during my freshmen year as part of a course on teaching. This course taught me how to develop effective lesson plans and how to develop teaching relationships with students. As far as the individual tutoring, I have experience teaching Algebra, Physics, and Calculus at the college level as a summer job my sophomore year of college. One-on-one tutoring helped me build my technical ability to teach students how to approach problems. My senior year, I was a teaching assistant for a junior/senior level course in embedded systems design lab.

As someone who enjoys learning new technical skills, I understand the difficulty of learning foreign concepts and complex topics. My focus will be on developing fundamentals and building on those fundamentals such that the student will be able to succeed. Once the fundamentals are established, we will understand how seemingly complex topics become much simpler.

My goal is to teach the student to the point where the student should be able to learn things on their own. We will discuss studying strategies, go over their work from school, and identify key points of concepts to help enrich the student's understanding of the subject. I look forward to working with your student.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
