University of Minnesota (Bachelor of Arts)
I am a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota. I was able to create my own major with concentrations in Film Studies, Communications, and Deaf Studies. I spent two years in a setting where I got to teach others around me how to edit their productions as well as assist on the productions themselves. I have created a variety of types of videos including client pieces, promotional/event videos, and narrative videos. During one of my internships, I got to assist members of an organization with the editing of their video productions. When they had questions about how to use a particular feature in the editing software, I was there to guide and help them.
I think it is important for everyone to gain video making skills, and I find it very fun to share my experience and skills with others. I want to help people that have stories make videos. It is important to me to help someone who wants it, and I have experience teaching skills to others. Currently I teach friends and family how to make their videos look better and I provide honest feedback in order to help people grow. I encourage people to branch out and try new things and challenge themselves, because it is a great way to grow and improve skills.
I have many years of experience using Microsoft Word and Excel making resumes, budgets, and extensive papers.
I have 4 years of experience editing videos in Adobe Premiere Pro, and have spent time using Adobe After Effects and Audition as well. Editing video, graphics, and sound are essential to making a compelling video and I can help teach that.
You should contact me if you're interested in getting lessons from someone right out of college, where all of the skills I've obtained are recent and fresh in my mind! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have 4 years of video production experience. I majored in Film Studies at the University of Minnesota and graduated in May 2016. I spent one semester working as a teachers assistant in a TV Studio Production course where I assisted on the students' productions in various roles. I also spent a semester working as an intern with Saint Paul Neighborhood Network where I assisted members with editing their videos and worked on creating videos for clients. I've also taught introductory classes on video editing programs as part of that same internship.
