About Emily

I am a recent college graduate with a degree in Sociology and Anthropology. I attended Carleton College in Northfield, MN, but I am originally from Boston.

Currently, I work as a High School Coach at College Possible, an organization that prepares low-income students for college admission and graduation. ACT prep is a huge part of my job, as I work with high school juniors. So far, my students have seen a 25% increase in their scores, on average. They are making fantastic progress!

I have been working in education for the past nine years. My first job was as a Hebrew language teaching assistant at my synagogue. Since then, I have worked as an instructor at a wildlife and nature camp, I have tutored middle schoolers, and I have led TA sessions for Anthropology courses. While I have a breadth of experience, my expertise is in helping students prepare for the ACT. I have been trained by the Princeton Review, and I worked intensively with students to increase their scores in all sections of the test.

My favorite part of my job is that I get to help students reach their highest potential and pursue their dreams! I love the moment when an important concept finally clicks for a student. I am passionate about access to education and I would love to help you increase your college options through ACT preparation.

While I did not take the ACT in high school, I received a perfect score on my math SAT. I am familiar with all the material tested on the ACT and I would love to teach you a few tricks and strategies.

Grammar is one of my passions! I love exploring the weird quirks of the English language. I also received a perfect score on my SAT writing section. I am very familiar with ACT English and writing sections.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in my services. I lived and breathed ACT for 6 months this year, as a full time ACT instructor, and I would love to continue to use my expertise to help all kinds of students. I look forward to hearing from you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
