Hi There! I am a recent post-graduate, new to Minneapolis, and working to transition into a position as a teacher in English as a Second Language (ESL). Currently, I am a volunteer teacher with the Lyndale ESL community which specializes in adult ESL education classes. In addition, I am tutoring one other adult ESL student on a one-on-one basis. I truly love working with the students. Every single moment is a joy for me! I am a very dedicated and patient tutor, willing to help students in whatever way they need support.
In terms of ESL, I work best with students who already know some English, and I particularly love to work with adult English language learners. I am proficient in a wide range of topics including grammar, pronunciation, spelling, and vocabulary. I am happy to work with whatever content the student needs to gain confidence in. I am also great at helping students learn to navigate the city bus system, create resume/cover letters/job applications, prepare for tests, and locate public service organizations that may be of use.
In addition, I am available to tutor students in writing and editing. I am skilled in areas such as thesis statements/papers, paragraph organization, rephrasing, spelling/grammar, proofreading, overall paper structure, research skills, and can work with MLA/Chicago Style formatting. As a former BA student, I know the challenges that can come with formal writing. I am happy to share in that challenge with students in order to help them learn and grow in their writing skills.
I think the primary quality that makes me an outstanding English tutor is my sincere enthusiasm for teaching and learning. I simply thrive in an academic context, and students are able to pick up on that enthusiasm for learning. My students are always happy to have worked with me, and our time together enriches us both.
I look forward to meeting with you! Thank you for visiting my profile. Hi There! I am a recent post-graduate, new to Minneapolis, and working to transition into a position as a teacher in English as a Second Language (ESL). Currently, I am a volunteer
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
