My son enjoyed working on math during his time. Math games are a great way to have fun and learn.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a degree in early childhood education and currently teach first grade. I taught kindergarten for two years. During these years, I have use the Superkids reading and phonics program, as well as Rigby phonics. I am working on my master's degree in education, with a specialization in k-5 literacy. I provide after school tutoring to students who are struggling with reading and phonics, and focus on the five areas of literacy: phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. I have used eloquin boxes to help sound out words, as well as many self-created games. I have students identify letters, letter sounds, CVC words, nonsense words, and read and write words.
I have a BA in early childhood education and an M. Ed. In curriculum and instruction, reading endorsement. I am a reading intervention specialist at current work. I worked with students after school and throughout summer to develop comprehension, fluency, phonemic awareness, and to build reading skills.
