About Anshul

I am am MBA (Finance) from Washington U. St Louis and an Electronics Engineer who is in love with Physics! And to sustain & earn my daily bread, I work as Financial Risk Manager for a leading Oil company.
I have taught Maths, Physics, Statistics, Economics, C/C++ during undergrad and graduate school. Teaching is something that comes naturally to me. I always keep the lessons simple and delightful. Long time ago, my Physics prof. while teaching Maxwell's equation said "I wish you could appreciate the sheer beauty of it. It is so much more beautiful than Ms. Julia Roberts." I have always desired to say that to my students!
I am tutoring for fun, and to not lose touch with Teaching. (My mom taught Economics for 30 years in New Delhi)
I am available weekends and in evening.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

C

I have learnt C programming during High School and again in my my Electronics Engineering Undergrad.
I have strong understanding of Pointers, Arrays, String, File I/O and Linked List. I have completed multiple projects on searching and sorting algorithms using C. I have taught C to Engineering Undergrad students since 2004. Alongside, I have also been conducting "One hour of coding" seminars at my work place.
I find "Schaum's Outline of Programming with C" to be a great book for beginners.

C++

I have a Bachelor's in Electronics Engineering. I have studied programming in C, C++, Pascal, VBA and Java. One of my C/C++ projects was to implement Hoffman Encoding as an image compression algorithm.
The Image was opened in binary format. Each pixel was denoted by an ASCII character. I calculated the frequency of each color pixel and reassigned ASCII character codes to compress the size.

Computer Programming

I have studied Computer Programming for four years. Programming is not only the art of writing the code, but also writing it efficiently, which minimizes processing time, and making it convenient to read and edit.
I can program in C, C++, Cobol (Started my career as Mainframe developer), Java and VBA.
I have come across great coders who are bad at programming, simply because they violate some very basic principles of computer engineering. I can teach you how to program but also how to program "well".

GMAT

With a bachelors in engineering and masters in business, I have strong background in mathematics. I scored 51 in quant section in my first attempt in GMAT. When I help students prepare for GMAT I not only work with them on the concepts of mathematics but also on their approach toward the questions. Better time management is another key to score well in the exam. For example, some questions don't require to be solved completely and correctly to be answered right in the exam. I can help you improve your GMAT score by a big margin.

Physics

I have a bachelor's in Electronics Engineering where I took three college level physics classes.
I have been teaching Physics since my undergrad. Topics like Electrostatics, Magnetism, Optics, Thermodynamics and wave theory are of keen interest to me!

Statistics

I have a BE in Electronics Engineering and an MBA in Finance. I have taken Statistics courses in both my degrees. Statistics is a major part of my job as Risk Manager as I extensively use it to analyze markets and understand trends. I can help students learn how Confidence Intervals are used in real life, or how they can use Hypothesis Testing to make decisions. How advertisers exploit the numbers and people’s limited understanding of Statistics in misleading them. Statistics is beautiful. I can help to unveil it for you.

Very patient, smart, helpful tutor!!! — I took Business Stats (SCO 2550) with a professor who didn't teach in the way that I learn at all. Anshul was awesome in tutoring me and really helping me grasp the content and be able to apply it in a general sense to the numbers! Thank you Anshul!!! ...
