=I'm a retired secondary English teacher who loves kids and misses working with them. I taught for almost 30 years in a small town high school and have worked with every grade level 9 through 12. In addition to regular classroom teaching, my experience includes preparing kids for ACT tests, teaching AP English for many years, forensics coaching, directing school plays, and writing workshop experience as a writing fellow. I also started and implemented a Title 1 program for high schooler students that ran successfully for many years.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I minored in academic speech as an undergraduate and taught a speech class for many years in high school. I also coached forensics and tutored for various local speech contests
My students often came back to tell me how their speech training helped them succeed in college in so many ways.
