About Maggie

It's college essay and application season! Do you want to make sure that you have quality essays to send in with applications? Do you want assistance with proofreading, clarity, and message? Would you like a native English speaker to help you with writing and composition for college or graduate school in the United States?

I have a master's degree (MDiv) from the University of Chicago and a BA from Hamline University. I won two awards at Hamline University for outstanding academic essays.
I have also been an ESL teacher in South Korea, assisting middle school students with composition and grammar in English.

I can help students:
+ craft powerful, meaningful essays on their own that will help get them accepted into colleges
+ learn how to get a point across in an essay, especially in clear introductions and conclusions
+ sound natural and professional in their compositions
+ understand English grammar and expand vocabulary
+ practice basic essay-writing skills in order to pass essay tests in high school or college

Please contact me for more information about what I may be able to do for you or your young scholar.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I completed an Americorps term with Jumpstart in Chicago Public Schools, tutoring and serving children in Pre-K with early literacy. I spent two years tutoring literacy and social skills in a kindergarten classroom in the Chicago Public Schools, and one year as a full time ESL teacher in South Korea. I spent a few months serving as an in-home tutor with Club Z in the Twin Cities in 2011, also working with ELL students in elementary school.
