My love for teaching is because I myself like learning different languages (I'm currently learning Chinese, the number 1 language spoken worldwide). I've always believed that a person is more likely to be hired when he/she speaks more than one language. I also believe in hard work, and a person has to put a lot of effort in achieving his/her goals.
I'm a Spanish native speaker, born in Monterrey, Mexico. I studied English in High School, while at a boarding school in Texas. I taught English at the Mexican-North American of International Affairs Institute, in Monterrey for about three years; but a job opportunity for my husband in America moved our 4 children and us here.
After giving it a lot of thought, I decided that it could be a great idea to teach other people communicate in Spanish, the number 4 ranked of the top 10 languages worldwide spoken. Spanish is spoken by 395 million around the world. Aside from all of those kids who take it in high school, Spanish is spoken in just about every South American and Central American country, not to mention Spain, Cuba, and the U.S. There is a particular interest in Spanish in the U.S., as many English words are borrowed from the language.
A 24 hour cancellation notice is appreciated, and we could arrange a make up class. For me, practice makes perfect, and a homework will be assigned each class to ensure that the student practices. Periodic evaluations will be placed to assess the student's advancement of levels.
To ensure proper study time, I offer a quiet and comfortable study space in my house, where I can teach small group classes (at group discounted rates - currently I have a Beginner 1 level group Tuesday and Thursday evenings) or meet at a public place for private tutoring at a different hourly rate. Next course for groups will start January 8, 2017. Send me a text for more information about groups.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you succeed speaking Spanish! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
