Augsburg College (International Busine)
Dear Parents and Students,
I love helping students learn English and especially enjoy working with students who struggle to learn a language. I realized my passion for tutoring when I went on a volunteer vacation in 2006 to Rarotonga (Cook Islands). When I returned to the USA I became a volunteer tutor and then decided to earn my TESOL (Teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate. I completed this certificate in Greece in 2008 with a score of A1. Since 2009, I have taught English in Spain at an elementary school in a village in Huelva, a high school in Madrid, and through private lessons with students of all ages (youngest: 3, eldest: 60+) in both Andalucia and Madrid.
One of the 9 year old boys I worked with in Madrid started to meet with me because the private school he attended told his parents that he would be removed from the school if his English grades didn't improve. We started working together in the late fall and by spring he was not only doing well, but getting perfect scores on exams. He was so proud and I was so incredibly happy for him!
While I was in Spain I continued to practice Spanish and now I also give private Spanish lessons for beginners.

I'm sensitive to student circumstances and also believe in their ability and keep finding different ways to introduce something until it sticks. People learn in different ways and as a tutor it's my responsibility to teach the student in the style that suits them individually.
Engaging, encouraging, approachable, and fun yet focused would be some ways I would describe my teaching style.
I have supplemental exercises and activities to help with learning, as well as games, drama, dialogues, songs (for example "head, shoulders, knees, & toes"), etc.
I can also help you prepare for big exams or teach through conversation/interactive play/activities/sports/cooking, etc. Children through 1st grade tend to enjoy practicing a foreign language with a puppet who only speaks English/the target language.
Please contact me through WyzAnt to discuss further details. Thank you and I do hope to hear from you! Dear Parents and Students,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
