About Natalie

I am a licensed Elementary Education teacher. I am also have additional licensure in ELL, Special Education-Learning Disabilities and ASD. I worked as a full-time ELL teacher at Cambridge Isanti schools working with K-12 students for two years and have been a substitute teacher for four school districts K-12 all subject areas for 4 years. The taught 2nd grade in Japan for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 school years with the Department of Defense. I'm currently teaching at Minneapolis public schools in autism 6-8 grade. I have the ability to work with all ages and have a gift of empowering students to feel excited about their learning. I graduated with a BA in Psychology in 1991 from Hamline University and worked for 15 plus years in the field of adult mental health. Teaching is a second career for me of which I have taught for 6 years now. I received my Elementary Ed license in 2009 and have since added licenses in the areas of ELL (English Language Learners) and Special Education Learning Disabilities and ASD. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have a MN Elementary Ed Teaching License K-6. I am also licensed in the following areas ELL/ESL K-12 and Special Education Learning Disabilities K-12.

ESL/ESOL

I am a licensed elementary teacher. I also hold additional licenses in ELL, learning disabilities, and autism (K-12). I have taught ESL to both adults and children.

Phonics

I have a K-6 Teaching License. I also have an additional teaching license in the areas English as a Second Language (ELL/ESL K-12) and Special Education Learning Disabilities (K-12). I worked full time for a year and a half in Cambridge/Isanti school district as a K-12 ESL teacher. During this time I worked extensively on helping students develop phonics skills.

Special Needs

I have a K-6 Teaching License. I also have an additional teaching license in the areas of English as a Second Language (ELL/ESL K-12) and Special Education Learning Disabilities (K-12).

Study Skills

I have a K-6 Teaching License. During this time I worked extensively on helping students develop good study skills in order to improve their academic performance. I recently worked with a high school student recently tutoring her on developing good study skills in a tutoring capacity.
