About Nathan

Hello,

I am an enthusiastic biology and chemistry teacher working in a secondary school. I also work as a tutor and coordinate the after school tutoring program that takes place after school in the same building. I tutored for a year at the University of Minnesota working with student athletes. Most often I spend my time tutoring students in high school level algebra, statistics and probability, chemistry, and biology.

My academic qualifications include a summa cum laude honors degree in Biochemistry. I am also a licensed Minnesota teacher in both life sciences and chemistry.

I enjoy working with students very much, and students seem to have fun as they are learning with me. I find that students learn best when they are relaxed and feel as if they can safely demonstrate what they know and what they don't know. All I ask from students I work with is that they come prepared to practice until they have mastered the subject material - I'll be there to correct mistakes and provide guidance during the learning process. I like a challenge!

Thanks for your consideration,
Nathan

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Patient and Good explainer

We covered college algebra. Nathan did a good job at explaining the concepts to me. He took it step by step and if I didn't remember how to do a step, he would go back and explain things in very simple terms. He always asked to made sure, I understood something before moving on. I would recommend him and use him as a tutor again.
