I've tutored more than 85 MBA and undergraduate college students, comprising over 110 course offerings, in financial accounting, managerial accounting, corporate finance, and financial management.
I taught financial accounting on a part-time basis for 10 years as an adjunct instructor at the University of St. Thomas. My financial management experience includes positions as CFO, Treasurer, and Controller. I started my professional career in public accounting, and am a long time member of the American Institute and Minnesota Society of CPAs.
My tutoring style is collaborative and interactive based on learning through dialogue. I strive to be responsive to students' specific needs and their individual learning styles.
My goal is to enhance students' confidence by explaining financial concepts in easy-to-understand language that makes sense to students. I help students apply accounting/finance principles for solving quantitative problems—with results often exceeding their initial expectations.
Students describe me as knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. They appreciate my advance preparation for tutoring sessions. They acknowledge that I'm flexible, accommodating, and easy to reach for scheduling.
I’m available for tutoring in the afternoon or evening on weekdays and Sundays, and in the morning or afternoon on Saturdays.
I look forward to working with you! I've tutored more than 85 MBA and undergraduate college students, comprising over 110 course offerings, in financial accounting, managerial accounting, corporate finance, and financial management.

The time I spent working with Bill made me feel more confident in being able to catch up in my accounting class. I know that it will take some more time, but concepts are making more sense now. It is encouraging.
Tutor is very knowledgeable and prepared. Experienced in tutoring and various subject authors. Flexible with schedules and willing to work with you.
Kari tells me William is very knowledgeable and her sessions are very much worth her time. He also comes prepared to teach her and has materials for her to work from.
What a wonderful and awesome tutor. I went from being an accounting troglodyte to a semi-advanced, accounting humanoid. But seriously, I feel like everything makes A LOT more sense now.
Bill is a very qualified tutor that has helped me in my finance classes in the Carlson School of Management. He is very patient, and makes great use of the time you spend with him. He has always helped me to understand concepts and excel in my classes. He is a great guy too!
I was given a very difficult review from my Accounting teacher, however William really helped piece everything together! Great understanding of the material, and helped me learn it on my own with his assistance, instead of teaching at me.
William is very nice and knowledgeable, he knows what he is talking about, and is very respectful. We only met one time for tutoring at the last minute of my homework deadline. He came to help me with a last minute request, it was very nice of him. I know if I had a longer time tutoring, he would help me more.
Finance is simply a class that I struggle with. I don't know what I would do without Bill's tutoring assistance. He is so patient and knowledgeable.
Bill is a very thoughtful and caring tutor. He has always been very accommodating with my schedule, and I have enjoyed his tutoring all along. He is very knowledgeable of the subject and I highly recommend him.
I just want to say that I really enjoyed working with Bill this semester on my Financial Accounting course. I had never taken Accounting before but it was required for my Master's in Business Communications degree at the University of St. Thomas. He was with me every step of the way. I don't think I could have got through this course without him. He was patient, understanding and never thought any of my questions were elementary. I truly started from scratch with this course and by the end Bill and my professor thought I worked hard and went a long way.
Bill was flexible with scheduling or rescheduling when I needed to and only charged me for the actual time he was tutoring me. He was very fair and reasonable.
Thank you Bill for your patience and understanding through it all. I wish you tutored Statistics. That's my next hurdle to overcome.
Oh, I just received my grade and I passed!!!
All the Best!
Bill is a very very very knowledgeable accounting tutor, he has helped me immensely! I am going to school part time, and I am usually behind. Bill has helped me catch up and do much better on the exams then I should have. Bill prepares beforehand on his own time which makes the time you spend with him even more useful. I would recommend Bill to everyone!
William D is very professional and has a good understanding of the topic. I am happy to work with him and hope to learn from his vast knowledge.
Bill was very helpful during our tutoring sessions. Working step by step with him really increased my understanding of the problems.
I needed help. I was a in a master's in communications management program and managerial finance was a required course. I struggled to properly apply the concepts, and found William on WyzAnt. We met four times. I sent problems in advance of our sessions, William solved the problems on his own time and came to the tutoring session prepared to compare answers and walk through approach. William was patient, explained concepts in an easy-to-understand language, and I learned a lot about sustainable and actual growth rates and future and present value. I received an A in the course! I could not have done it without William. He is a great tutor and I highly recommend him.
Bill was a great help in getting through my financial accounting MBA course. He was very easy to reach and schedule appointments, always on time, and accommodating to my learning style. The questions we were asked were quite complex, and Bill spent his own time (which I was not billed for) in order to figure out the answers ahead of time so that our time together could be spent entirely on my education. I ended up with an A in the course, and that was in no small part thanks to Bill. I highly recommend him!
I strongly recommend William D. as a tutor for MBA level financial coursework.
I started out trying to "go it alone" with my MBA level financial accounting and found myself really struggling. William D. was able to help me get up to speed with the course by patiently and clearly explaining the complicated financial concepts to me in a way that made sense and that I was able to retain. William D's tutoring made all the difference to my success in the course and I definitely couldn't have done it without him. I finished with an A in financial accounting, which was great. William D. was able to work with my schedule, was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable and overall was great to work with. Again, I would wholeheartedly recommend working with William D. if you need help with MBA level financial coursework.
William is a great tutor. He helped me get an 80% on an exam in one of the toughest college courses i've ever taken. I strongly encourage you to contact him if your looking for help with accounting.
He was really able to help me with a project for my Corporate Finance class! Very patient, and explains things very well. He was also very easy to reach and pretty flexible with scheduling!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
