I have worked for many years as a preschool teacher before getting my degree in teaching English as a second language. As a preschool teacher it was important to teach different strategies to figure out information before having reading skills. This led to teaching English language learners.
I am thrilled to watch students break through to understand new ideas. It is wonderful to build that connection. I have strong communication skills and a good sense of fun.
It will not be dull work learning with me. You will teach me too; that is part of the reward for me too.

As a 12 year pre-K and ESL teacher, there are many reading, pre-reading and study skills that I have learned and implemented. It is important to address each student's learning style to help them get the most out of their efforts. I enjoy working with students to help them discover their strengths.
Have successfully tutored an adult with an MBA, in writing and speaking in order for him obtain a position with the United Nations in Darfur. I currently work with another adult editing her professional written items. Have worked with children and adults helping them gain strength and tools to use in comprehending and using English.
I am experienced in working with ESL students and Pre-K and K students through my years of teaching, and phonics was part of the skills necessary for them to become comfortable with language.. There are many easy ways to help students become familiar with phonics that make reading and language fun as students are learning.
I helped edit and proofread an adult's essays and memos to colleagues. It worked very successfully and I continue to edit her memos to staff and staff communications.
Computers make so much easier work of this. It has proven very helpful to her and I enjoy hearing about her experiences.
There are many clues to understanding what you are reading besides just the words themselves. I have taught pre-reading strategies to students that helps them pick up some signs they may be missing in written language. The results have been helpful for them.
As an early childhood educator with a degree in teaching ESL, I see the richness a strong vocabulary adds to writing and speaking. Words are fun! I enjoy finding ways to say something that adds to the descriptive quality.
As a Pre-K teacher and an ESL teacher, my literacy skills have been put to use in reading, writing, speaking and comprehension. I have tutored adults to help them gain a higher level of proficiency in written skills whether it was in an academic or professional setting.
