My name is Greg. I am a graduate of Carleton College, where I received my degree in chemistry. I enjoy reading, writing, and tabletop gaming. I am currently designing a strategy game based on the physics and technology of space travel.
I am interested in tutoring high school level chemistry, physics, math and writing, including preparation for the Advanced Placement exams and the SAT. I have a lot of enthusiasm for these subjects, and have worked with them consistently throughout my college education.
I also have a great deal of experience with standardized testing. I was a national merit scholar in high school, and scored in the top 10% in the American Chemical Society’s exams in general chemistry and physical chemistry in my senior year at Carleton.
In tutoring, I feel that the student’s educational goals and needs should set the pace for classes, and it is important for the tutor to be able to adapt to a variety of learning styles. I have a lot of kindness, patience, and flexibility, and I look forward to working with you. My name is Greg. I am a graduate of Carleton College, where I received my degree in chemistry. Greg is amazing tutor who is knowledgeable and knows what he is teaching. He is patient and makes the student feel comfortable. I highly recommend him.
Gregory is a great tutor. He guides my daughter and has her do all her own work. She has done better on her physics and Calculus tests. He is prompt and she enjoys her tutoring sessions.
Greg is an excellent teacher, and he adapted his tutoring to what my son needed. He was patience, and he challenged him to concentrate. He gave him great lessons to practice, and went over them all with him until he understood. My son took the ACT a second time after Greg's help. We don't have the scores back but my son says he was a lot more confident, and knew the material esp. in science.
Gregory has a very calm and patient demeanor which is very helpful with stressful learning topics like chemistry. My son didn't understand anything about chemistry and Gregory made him confident and successful.
Gregory has been a joy to work with. My son says he is the best tutor he has ever had, and he has an excellent grasp of the material.
Greg is a wonderful teacher, patient, easy-going and very knowledgeable in this subject. In 3 sessions last weekend lasting about 5 hours total, he raised my grade from a sure Fail to a B-C+. I will see him as needed all semester and maybe for other chem courses in the future. He is a real find!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
