Minnesota State University Moorhead (Speech Communication)
From 1995-1997 I attended the Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Performing and Visual Arts in Las Vegas, Nevada. I graduated from High School in 1999 from Brainerd Senior High School where I primarily studied AP classes, art, and television production. I was also in a local punk rock band, and I play both keyboard and guitar (by ear). I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from Minnesota State University Moorhead. During my years in college I studied several areas of communication. I had a double emphasis in Film/TV and Business & Professional Communications. From in 2006-2007 I enjoyed an amazing year as an ESL teacher in Daegu, South Korea, working primarily with middle and high school students. I have traveled extensively throughout the United States, and I have also traveled to many countries throughout the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia (I've even climbed The Great Wall of China!).
I am currently a Business Analyst for a local K-12 Publishing company and received my Certificate in Business Analysis from the U of M College of Continuing Education.
I try to tailor my tutoring style to the needs of the student. I understand that people learn in all different ways, and I would like to find the student's best way of learning. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
