About Richard

I am a life-long student of the classical world, with both classroom and one-on-one teaching experience. I hold an MA in Classics from the University of Washington, Seattle, and a BA in Classical Greek from Hunter College, New York, New York. My areas of expertise are in Latin and Greek languages and literatures.

I've recently relocated to the Twin Cities from Chicago, where I worked with students from the Latin School of Chicago as well as the City of Chicago public school system.

Kids, young adults and parents alike enjoy the fun perspective I bring to learning this at times difficult material.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Very good session — Richard gave my son some good direction relative to basic Latin fundamentals. My son seemed much more confident going into the test and would like to continue to meet with Richard. ...
