“**Excellent tutoring skills and quick to follow-up**”

I am now a professional tutor. I have a PhD in Economics (lots of math required) and was a double major in Math and Econ, as an undergrad. I am good at math and easy to get along with. I taught at the college level but have recently been employed full-time during the day as a Minnesota Math Corps tutor, helping 4-5th graders reach their

David was very helpful and personable. I needed some help using SPSS to analyze the data collected for my dissertation. He contacted me almost immediately after I requested his help, and was able to set up a study session either that day or the next. He arrived promptly, and was extremely fair in his pricing and the amount of time it might take to accomplish my goal. David explained things patiently, was an excellent listener, and made an obvious effort to use examples that related to my experience. I would definitely recommend his services.

David was great getting me back on course with my Econ class, he was patient and knowledgeable and was very good at explanations and examples. He was a life saver!

David met my son at the U and helped him understand Econ issues. My son was quite pleased with his interaction and knowledge.

David made it very simple to understand the concepts in a "This is the bottom line that you need to know to understand" way. I loved that, just the right amount of definitions and practical on everything. Certainly someone worth while to have beside you. Thank you!

David helped my son with AP Economics. He was reliable and efficient! He covered a lot of ground in the hour. Well worth the fee!

Completed an 3 way ANOVA analysis. Knowledgeable and able to explain the material clearly. Thank you for all your help!

David helped me understand statistics and took the time to explain it me. He is extremely helpful and I would recommend him if you need a tutor.

World's best STATS tutor! So knowledgeable about his materials, but most of all extremely patient and non-intimidating. Willing to help in any way he can. Took the anxiety and stress off of this class, and makes it easy to understand. Have recommended several of my friends to him already. Keep up the good work, David. Thank you again!

I utilized David for a statistics course I had some trouble with! He and I met, and he showed me some new ways of understanding the material that I did not have before. He was flexible and patient! He made sure to go over the material as many times as I needed to ensure mastery!!

Thanks, David!

David started tutoring me in statistics as I began the data analysis stage for my doctoral dissertation and he continued working with me through my dissertation defense. He was very knowledgeable and upbeat throughout all of my sessions with him. I asked a whole lot of questions about what I was needing to do, and I appreciated that he explained the statistics to me very clearly and patiently. I wish I had known about him while I was actually taking the statistics classes during my doctoral coursework.

I defended my dissertation a week ago. Before my defense, David coached me on what to expect. He went through my PowerPoint presentation with me slide by slide and made concrete suggestions for changes in some of my slides. He also made sure I understood the data analysis thoroughly, so I could answer any questions about it that might come my way during the actual defense. I was well-prepared, and my dissertation defense was successful. By the way, I couldn't find a tutor in my local area who had the expertise to tutor me, so I invested in joinme.com and David taught me from three states away. Even from that distance, he was able to convey to me what I needed to understand to succeed in what I was doing. I would highly recommend him for anyone who is struggling with statistics at any educational level.

Extremely intelligent and a great teacher. Really helped me with my college math. Very flexible with his time and teaching approach, really worked with me on everything.

This guy David L W I found is the real deal. He is the tutor of tutors. I have nothing but the highest respect for his Economics and Mathematics wizardry and know how. He is the teacher of teachers. I'll always remember and recommend David.

David really took the time to explains things to me in a way that I could understand. I appreciate his patience!

David is a very good tutor for quantitative subjects. Very intelligent and able to communicate concepts well. He helped me study for the quant section of the GMAT. He helped me understand the underlying concepts tested and then helped me build upon those concepts as our lessons progressed. Would definitely recommend.

Great tutor. Explains and asks the student to explain. You hear things like, "what is the next step" and "when in doubt, go for the quadratic equation." After about 2 sessions, they really started to click and they are making great progress.

Seeing incredible progress! After a few weeks, the kid got his first A on a unit test of the year!!

**updated 5/8/2013** -- My kid came out of the tutoring session talking to me about practical ways of using statistics and probabilistic reasoning. David is AMAZING!

David assisted me with the Illinois state Test of Academy Proficiency. It is a basic test that covers basic math, reading and writing skills. I have always struggled with math, and thought I was doomed after I failed the TAP exam a second time, with minimal improvement. I hired David because of his strong mathematical background, and it turned out to be a fine investment. David helped me improve my test score by over 30 points. David is an excellent teacher. He is very patient and communicates very well when providing instruction. Overall, if you're looking for an excellent tutor, who will provide results, hire David.

David is one of the best teachers I've ever had. The results speak for themselves. My initial GMAT score was 610. After studying with David I scored 50 points higher. Then I took two more lessons, and improved my score by another 30 points! He is Math genius! His knowledge in Math is so profound, that he can explain any math problem from various perspectives. He is also an incredibly nice person, who always gives more than is expected. Thanks to David I really improved my score.

David has been very patient with my son and has been a lot of help to him. David is very responsive and flexible in scheduling times for tutor sessions. I would highly recommend David.

David went over all the questions I had selected to review for my up coming test. He was patient with me and made me understand concepts I thought I knew but was a little off on. I would recommend him to any student needing help with statistics.

I had the opportunity to work with David regarding decision making under uncertainty that looked at expected profits and the variance in the profits. This tutorial session was excellent. Not only was David punctual for our meeting time he was patient and explained each step thoroughly. I am a person who values my time and David exemplifies a person who applies quality to his tutorial services. I would definitely recommend him for future tutorial services.

David contacted me immediately and was extremely patient in listening to my needs and assisting me with my work. I would highly recommend working with David.

David, was an excellent tutor. I sent David an email explaining exactly what I needed help with on my dataset. He was patient and very thorough. He helped me tremendously, and I will definitely use him in the future!

David was a great tutor. He was very patient and was willing to wait while I worked through problems. Reviewed my answers, explained where I went wrong, and helped me to relate my coursework to real world scenarios.

After one session with David my son went from a very poor grade on his AP stats test the week before meeting with David, to a 95% on his AP test 2 days after meeting with David. These are great results!

David is truly knowledgeable about all manner of math subjects. He is able to give examples and help apply the information to your pace and level. Very pleasant to work with. I was extremely fortunate to find him. His assistance was a big help. Thank you!

David has a lot of knowledge about high level math! It's wonderful. And, he's got a gift - by listening to me he's able to determine where the "kink" is in my reasoning so that he can help me see the math problem from and different view and then understand!

I was a little nervous because I need help making the bridge between high level math and the engineering in which it's used, and knowing that David was not an engineer made me a little apprehensive. However, I have found that he is very attentive to my questions and, although he might not be familiar with the engineering concepts, he is able to apply his mathematical skill to my specific engineering situations and help me understand. IT'S WONDERFUL!

I picked the right tutor. David is very proactive also and even went as far as to buy a book that relates high level math to engineering in order to better prepare himself and me.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have a background in tutoring mathematics and finance. I also have passed the first two actuarial exams. I have a shorter learning curve in learning complicated mathematical problems, which makes me a great study partner, even in areas that I have not studied or used as of late!

I took two years of Algebra in one year when I was 13. I did very well in it and have tutored folks in it many times since then. I think part of what helps me is that I value others learning the material that I tutor in. So even if it's not as "hard" as some of the stuff I had to learn, it's meaningful and a good thing for others to learn.

The math part of ASVAB is very similar to other placement exams and I've tutored enough ASVAB students that I am aware of how it is different.

I am a jack of all trades when it comes to statistical analysis and research. My background is in the social sciences, specifically Applied Economics. However, I am an evolutionary economist with significant exposure/training in Health Economics. This has helped me to assist a large number of MA in Nursing students with their research.

I have a broad range of interests and have helped students with a ranging levels of comfort with statistics and mathematics. I try to keep things in perspective and practical with all of my students. I like teaching biostatistics, in part because of its growing importance as a field.

I took two quarters of college-level Calculus in 11th grade at the University of Talented Youth Math Program. It was a hard program but it prepared me well to start as a Math major the next year. I've tutored a lot of students in Calculus and used Calculus a lot in my studies and teaching of Economics. One of my favorite jobs I got through WyzAnt was helping a talented mechanical engineer review the second year of Calculus in preparation for starting a PhD program.

I have a PhD in Economics. I did my field exam at the end of my 2nd year in Econometrics and passed on the first attempt, unlike most of the other graduate students at Michigan State University at the time.

I also have taught econometrics to undergraduates and was a TA for a masters course in applied econometrics for Jeff Wooldridge, a well known econometrician and author of an econometrics textbook. I used his textbook when I taught a hands-on second course in Econometrics

I have a PhD in Economics. I have taught a wide variety of undergrad level economics classes and I enjoy teaching a wide variety of subject matters in Economics.

I am patient and very attentive with students.

I work with them on whatever book they bring, using a variety of techniques for test taking. I am good at teaching simple tricks that make it easier to do calculations or to check one's work.

My greatest weakness as a tutor is that sometimes my students have gotten so much better after one session, they have no longer needed any assistance ;-<

I did very well in the GRE, passing over 90% in all three categories. I also took some GRE preps then and benefited from them. I have since then helped a lot of students prepare for the GRE, SAT or other courses with a strong math component.

A lot of people struggle with pre-algebra because they have not yet truly grasped 6th grade level mathematics. This comes easily with time and effort and also some maturity and assistance from a tutor can speed things up.

I took PreCalc when I was in 9th grade. It's like a big puzzle. Most people don't need to know it, but it does show others their ability and willingness to learn how to learn and it opens a lot of doors for folks. It also reinforces the need to learn Mathematics concepts for the long-term, not just the short-term, since it builds on the earlier Algebra and Geometry classes they took. I enjoy helping HS students to learn it.

I learned STATA as a PhD graduate student in Economics with an emphasis in Econometrics and used STATA as a professor and as a research analyst and tutor for years.

I first began tutoring in statistics when I was 17, the semester after I took a junior-level course in Statistics from my father who has a PhD in Mathematical Statistics. It was a really good experience. I learned to be patient and encouraging to my students and to enjoy it when they learn the material well.

I still enjoy it when a student gets the material and sees its usefulness, although I understand that typically its crucial to pass the class.
