I'm Margie. Many of my clients and students have relocated internationally, resulting in an immediate need to improve their English. Their goals often include things like better communication at work, better exam scores, or just having an easier time with daily life. If this describes you, I can help!

I've lived outside of my home country (the USA) for over half of my adult life and understand the joys and challenges of relocation. After obtaining my TEFL certification five years ago, I've gained international experience teaching in the private sector, schools, and online.

For our first meeting, we'll have a friendly chat about your tutoring needs and I'll answer any questions you may have. My general teaching style is fairly informal, yet always results-oriented. In class, I explain concepts clearly with plenty of examples, and provide periodic written feedback with lesson reviews. In addition to English language practice, I offer IELTS, TOEFL, and TOEIC preparation.

If your first language isn't English, it can be difficult to express your "true self" in the language. Being able to do so takes time, but it gets easier with practice! In addition to reviewing grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, I help students "get a grip" on idiomatic language and cultural references, boosting their conversational skills.

Some of my biggest professional interests include medical English, OET preparation, language acquisition theory, and etymology. Outside of work, I'm a huge film buff, I love listening to 90s and 2000s hip hop, and I really enjoy genealogy and picking up new creative hobbies.
