Gustavus Adolphus College (English)
Minnesota State University, Mankato (Enrolled)
I am currently a graduate student working towards my Master in Education and Minnesota Teaching License. I have a bachelor's degree in English and Political Science from Gustavus Adolphus College. I have always loved teaching and working with kids. During my time at Gustavus I worked at an after school program that involved tutoring/helping 3-6th grade students with homework. I also have experience working as a tutor in the AVID program at Mankato West High School (working with 9th, 11th, and 12th grade students). I have assisted in some form of classroom environment/teaching with students ranging from 1st grade-12th grade for the last 8 years.
I love tutoring/teaching because it allows me to directly impact students in a meaningful way and I am able to watch them grow and learn as a result of my teaching. Every day is different and each breakthrough with a student is a gift that reminds me of why I love teaching.
The teaching license that I am currently working towards is under the description of: Communication Arts and Literature. This paired with my bachelor's degree in English makes me specialized for tutoring: English, Reading, Grammar, Literature, Proofreading, Writing, and Public Speaking.
I have a very flexible schedule so please contact me to set something up! I charge a base rate of $40 an hour but am always willing to set up a package rate that works for you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
