After earning my BS in Biology, I spent three years working in various capacities at a private boarding school in Northern Wisconsin. Notably, I was a TA for their AP Bio class and tutored a few students as needed. During those three years I earned my Master's Degree in Natural Resources with an Emphasis in Environmental Education.
Upon graduation, I was hired to teach Intro to Biology and Environmental Science at Ridgewater College in Hutchinson. It was there that my teaching ability flourished. Students continually give positive evaluations of my work often noting that I am not only informative, but entertaining. I love conveying information in ways that anyone can understand using humor, logic, and real world scenarios as my tools. My passion for biology fuels my passion for teaching, and I've found that working one on one with students can be just as rewarding as teaching a whole class.
With my background in biology, genetics, anatomy, zoology, and genetics I've grown to understand the world from a scientific standpoint. My background in Natural Resouces and Environmental Science uses this knowledge to drive forward with teaching people how to think critically and use science in their every day life, and to make sustainable, environmentally responsible decisions in all aspects of life. These tools will allow students to not only make good decisions for themselves, but for the earth as well.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
