I love learning and having FUN. I think of challenges as puzzles and enjoy breaking things down step-by-step in order to understand. This is the philosophy I apply to teaching others.

I love learning and having FUN. I think of challenges as puzzles and enjoy breaking things down step-by-step in order to understand. This is the philosophy I apply to teaching others.

I completed my B.S. at the University of Minnesota and my M.S. at Penn State. My area of study was Agricultural Economics, which heavily focused on business, economics, and mathematics. I survived and succeeded in these areas by applying them to real-world situations, rather than think of them as big and scary.

I enjoy teaching and mentoring. I have been a mentor at the University of Minnesota for many years. This has required me to spend time with a young person helping him/her with career exploration, resume writing, interview skills, and networking. This experience has been rewarding, as it's allowed me to coach and develop others.

I've also volunteered in my religious community. My responsibilities have included Sunday School teacher, international trip chaperon, and group leader. Most of my time in this area has been spent with junior high and high school students. I think I get just as much out of this as the students!

Betty is a kind, patient tutor with our 4th grader who is learning new skills.

Betty worked with our 4th grader on multiplication, division, and starting algebra. She even is in contact with our son's teacher to insure they are working together.

Smart!

Betty was prompt, patient, and reassuring. She seems very intelligent and capable. If something was unclear, she'd explain it in a different way until it was understood.

Great Tutor

Betty has been working with my 15 year old daughter on Geometry and Algebra. She does a great job. Betty is very organized and professional. She is always on time and most importantly my daughter really enjoys her. This hasn't always been the case with other tutors. I can definitely see the difference in my daughters confidence. We highly recommend Betty!!!

Very knowledgeable about advanced math. Worked hard to set up a time that would work.

Betty knows math very well! She helped my daughter through some difficult problems over Skype which is not easy to do. She is very flexible and found a time that would work for my daughter's busy schedule. I highly recommend her.

Talented and Gifted

Ms. M. is a very patient and kind teacher. She is very knowledgeable about the topic she is teaching. She takes the time needed to explain every step, so that the problem solving, and the reasons for coming to an answer, are understood by my granddaughter. She also takes the time to show her all the steps needed to come to the correct answer. If my granddaughter figures out a problem in a different manner than her, she has her show her how she came to the answer and lets it her know if it is correct or not. My granddaughter is very happy with the knowledge she is learning and happy that we found someone to help her through a rough time in math. I am very glad that we have found her. She is awesome in her teaching technique and her ability to have what she is teaching understood. I would recommend her to anyone who needs help in math.
