MATH and PHYSICS tutor with 5+ years of tutoring experience
I love being a tutor, a one-on-one teacher. I like to focus on an individual and identify their strengths and challenges, as well as what motivates them to keep going. I have come across students who struggled with math and physics, not because they were unable to comprehend the concepts, but because they were victims of a poor teaching technique. I once read a book titled "Disrupting Class" which asserts that the way we learn is not necessarily the way we are taught, and in order for our educational system to become more effective we have to develop a student specific approach, where every student has a teacher whose methods are specific to the way the student learns. I believe this approach is vital especially for tutors in my field. That is why my first priority is always getting to know my student, especially their approach to dealing with real and abstract concepts. I try to understand how he/she understands so I can identify the challenges in his/her method of understanding. I don't believe saying the same thing over and over is an effective method of teaching. It works sometimes, but I believe it is better to identify what is preventing the student from understanding the first time. Dealing with challenges like this has helped me develop a diligent and meticulous method of tutoring.
An important area of growth and improvement I have benefited from in the last few years of tutoring is the ability to relate to students of all categories, including those for whom math and physics might seem foreign, those who just want to pass an exam, those who haven't done any math in a while and those who are bored and inattentive because they are not challenged enough. A good example of this skill at work, is how I use technology in teaching. We are in the age of computers, where a lot of the mundane everyday tasks are gradually being handed over to computers to give our brains space and time to be more creative. Nevertheless it makes some of us wonder whether we are encouraging our brains to become lazy. Maybe we're rig

Explanations are detailed and patient tutor!!
Elvis is a tutor that truly understands the concepts you are struggling with and even is willing to go the extra mile to go in depth of why a problem is worked a specific way. He goes step-by-step and ensures you are following along and understand as he proceeds to help you work through the problem. He is a great tutor and was even willing to stay up late hours to explain a Calculus 2 topic to me. If you need a tutor that is willing to work with you and help you figure out the concept you are struggling with I believe Elvis is the perfect person!Holly, 2 lessons with Elvis
Very knowledgeable and offers an Enjoyable Teaching Style
My son is a student athlete who formerly loved math until AP Calculus. I tried two other tutors and my son told me it was a waste of time and money and urged me not to schedule him for any more sessions. I took his advise until I could not take him not being as successful as he felt he should have been when received his lower than class average grades after committing hours to studying. This was all before Elvis... Elvis made an impression on the first day of tutoring. I can say with all honesty this was not an easy thing to achieve however he won my son's trust through his kindred spirit, relatable approach and captivation teaching style. Needless to say, we've continued to use Elvis and I am happy to say that my son has gone from failing to now above average in a subject that he felt completed defeated by. Elvis encouraged my son and related to his struggles as well introduced strategies that helped greatly with material retention. My son has stated that he will continue to use Elvis's services exclusively for the remaining of the school year!Tasha, 7 lessons with Elvis

Organized and knowleagable
Elvis did a great job of assessing what needed to be taught, and while being very organized with his teaching, gave my son room to talk through the concepts as they solved problems together.Steve, 1 lesson with Elvis
Elvis was patient with my son, he explained the steps in Algebra where my son understood them. My son said he learned alot and math came together with his explanation, even better than how the teacher explains things!Angela, 1 lesson with Elvis
