I love being a tutor, a one-on-one teacher. I like to focus on an individual and identify their strengths and challenges, as well as what motivates them to keep going. I love being a tutor, a one-on-one teacher. I like to focus on an individual and identify their strengths and challenges, as well as what motivates them to keep going. I have come across students who struggled with math and physics, not because they were unable to comprehend the concepts, but because they were victims of a poor teaching technique. I once read a book titled "Disrupting Class" which asserts that the way we learn is not necessarily the way we are taught, and in order for our educational system to become more effective we have to develop a student specific approach, where every student has a teacher whose methods are specific to the way the student learns. I believe this approach is vital especially for tutors in my field. That is why my first priority is always getting to know my student, especially their approach to dealing with real and abstract concepts. I try to understand how he/she understands so I can identify the challenges in his/her method of understanding. I don't believe saying the same thing over and over is an effective method of teaching. It works sometimes, but I believe it is better to identify what is preventing the student from understanding the first time. Dealing with challenges like this has helped me develop a diligent and meticulous method of tutoring.

I believe my job is done when a student successfully demonstrates equal confidence and knowledge in a given area of study. My satisfaction comes, not just from feeling that I did the best I could, but from vicariously experiencing success through my student's achievements. Success in their grades is always a priority, but I celebrate the little milestones of progress way more. I believe effective communication is the first step to these successes and achievements. For this reason I am always readily available, keeping the lines of communication open at all times, until the student achieves his/her goal. I look forward to being your partner in this journey of success.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have taught algebra for more than 4 years in two different parts of the world. I have a multilateral and analytical mastery of the concepts. I have a Simplistic and surgical method of approaching the problems. I don't assume my students have prerequisite knowledge unless they demonstrate full comprehension of Prealgebra.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I graduated from high school with honors in Algebra 3 and AP Calculus and went on to do a double major in Math and Physics in college. So I'm not just good at this, I enjoy it. I yearn to share that joy and enthusiasm with my students, and help them see how math is connected to every aspect of their lives. I have over 4 years of tutoring experience, and this helps me look at algebra from many different perspectives. I like to see what my student sees in the numbers, so that I can identify their shortcomings if there are any. I am dedicated to the learning process because I've come to realize that the only thing more fascinating than understanding complex concepts is teaching or simplifying complex concepts. To me that's the ultimate test of knowledge; how much can you pass on? So whenever my students gain understanding, I feel like my joy is more complete. I hope to make you feel the same.
Calculus,

Calculus

I have tutored Calculus for over 3 years. I have a double A in calculus because I studied Calculus out of the country but my grades won't transfer, so I had to take calculus again in the US. I had an A grade both times. Before Calculus I tutored Algebra and the combination of both gives me more than 4 years of tutoring math. I know how to observe my students well enough to identify what area they need help with. I know how to approach calculus when dealing with students who struggle with algebra.

Very knowledgeable and offers an Enjoyable Teaching Style

My son is a student athlete who formerly loved math until AP Calculus. I tried two other tutors and my son told me it was a waste of time and money and urged me not to schedule him for any more sessions. I took his advise until I could not take him not being as successful as he felt he should have been when received his lower than class average grades after committing hours to studying. This was all before Elvis... Elvis made an impression on the first day of tutoring. I can say with all honesty this was not an easy thing to achieve however he won my son's trust through his kindred spirit, relatable approach and captivation teaching style. Needless to say, we've continued to use Elvis and I am happy to say that my son has gone from failing to now above average in a subject that he felt completed defeated by. Elvis encouraged my son and related to his struggles as well introduced strategies that helped greatly with material retention. My son has stated that he will continue to use Elvis's services exclusively for the remaining of the school year!

Very good at making concepts clear

Elvis helped my daughter with Algebra 2. He checked to be sure that she knew each step before moving forward. He encouraged her when she felt frustrated, and his friendly manner and patience were very helpful in putting her at ease.
