BMUS Oberlin Conservatory of Music (Jazz Piano Performan)
Hi everybody! Thank you for visiting my page. I'm Josh, and I want to help you out. I'm a musician and educator, and I recently moved to the area. I have a lot of experience -- I've been teaching music since I was in high school in a variety of environments, from private piano lessons to therapeutic music classes for differently abled teenagers. I am excited to share my love of music and learning with you. I've also worked in numerous other settings helping people succeed and achieve their goals.
When I was a student, I definitely had my struggles too, but I grew to love the moment when something really clicks. One of my favorite parts about tutoring is being able to witness growth and help others towards that same feeling of mastery over the material at hand.
In addition to my extensive experience as an educator, I've been studying music myself for the better part of my life, most recently graduating Oberlin Conservatory for a Bachelor's in jazz piano. My philosophy for music is to help students learn what they are interested in while gently pushing them to stretch and grow!
I worked for two summers as a counselor for campers with special needs, and before that I spent two years leading a weekly music class at a Jewish Sunday school that drew its methodology from music therapy practices. I am very interested in continuing to work with differently abled people.
Again, thank you for visiting my page. Please contact me if you are interested in working together. Hi everybody! Thank you for visiting my page. I'm Josh, and I want to help you out. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching piano since I was in high school. Also I graduated Oberlin Conservatory with a Bachelor's degree in jazz piano. I have experience teaching students of all ages and abilities in all styles except classical.
