In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I can be a French tutor and to help students especially focus on the grammatical aspects of the basic French language in order to be able to go into another level. I have been tutoring deaf students to begin learning to read and write basic French and they were successfully improving their French lessons much better.
I believe I am qualified to tutor ASL because I have experience with the current assessment, ASL curriculum and ASL instruction, ASL storytelling. I have knowledge of linguistic and cultural aspects of ASL, and remarkable ability to evaluate students' abilities and modify lesson plans accordingly. I have been educating others about deaf culture and language for over 14 years. I have a certificate of achievement for Sign Language Students, and Certificate for Deaf Adults.
