I have had a variety of experiences that shape my approach to teaching and learning. Certified to teach both Math and Spanish, I began teaching in Chicago before moving to Milan, Italy, where I worked as a private tutor. I then settled in my home state of Michigan and actively participated in my children's education.
I started a farmers market business to sell my trash-free alternatives. I am passionate about purposeful living. One of my favorite places to be is my backyard which I call The Yarden because it is home to many vegetables, berries, chickens, and honeybees. I also love to share my skills with others and host an annual skill-share night, where folks can gather and share their skills around a certain theme.
I am an engaging teacher who truly cares that each of my students succeeds. I have over 5 years of tutoring experience in a variety of settings, including universities, high schools, elementary schools, and even a county jail! I also have 4 years of successful classroom teaching experience, which includes creating my own lessons and assessments, communicating with parents and administrators, and receiving lots of positive feedback from students.
I am an energetic self-starter who recently teamed up with a local school to help them achieve Green School Status. My colleagues describe me as organized, creative, resourceful, and funny. My areas of expertise are Math, reading, writing, study skills, and ESL.
I have a 12 hour cancellation policy and am flexible about tutoring locations. I look forward to sharing my teaching and learning skills to help you become a better self! Keri is a great tutor that possesses a great skill for teaching to the student's needs and abilities. Her confidence and comfort with the GRE material ensures the student is getting the most out of the lessons. Keri is particularly good at understanding what the student needs at any given time. She can gently push or allow the student to process the material.
She is very easy to work with and has been flexible when it comes to scheduling times to tutor.
I highly recommend Keri as a tutor. It is very apparent that she loves and cares about teaching and learning, which makes her a truly great tutor.
Keri is a very thoughtful and creative tutor. She has tutored both my kids, one who needed lots of movement and activity during the lessons and one who could sit more readily during the lessons. In an effort to keep my active one engaged, Keri came up with games and stations that taught him the concepts while keeping him interested! She was open with communications from me and I felt completely comfortable telling her when an approach was not working. Her willingness to go with the flow and come up with creative ways to keep the kids engaged was brilliant! I felt like Keri partnered with me and have been grateful for her tutoring skills.
The classes are great. The learning process is very dynamic and fun. Keri is a very nice and easy to go person.
Keri found out exactly what I needed help with my dissertation. She is VERY sincere, truthful, warm-hearted, and most of all, very professional. She is very organized and well prepared for every session. Without her, I was not able to finish my chapters. She is the greatest tutor I ever worked with. Thank you Keri!
Keri has been very helpful and patient. She clearly explains the material well, and helps to make it easier to understand.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
