Hi there!

My name is Amir, and I've been teaching and tutoring math for over five years -- as a University instructor, a Graduate Teaching Assistant and most recently, a tutoring center employee -- working mostly with high school and college students.

I studied math and physics in college and graduate school (as well as a few other related fields), hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Math (I was a Ph.D. candidate, but left before completing my dissertation), and am currently pursuing a second Master’s degree in Computer Science.

As a student for so long myself, I am confident in my understanding of the subject matter and ability to convey complicated ideas to students in a way that really isn't so complicated. My approach has been effective and appreciated because it involves taking time to carefully explain and justify material and giving lots of examples — basically what I would like from an instructor if I were the student, because I was where you are now not too long ago myself.

There are few things more gratifying to me than seeing the light switch flip on in a student's head. Achieving results in school that they didn't think were possible and seeing them gain confidence in themselves are icing on the cake, but I'm a baker who believes in extra icing.

• ACT/SAT Math
• Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, AP Calculus AB and BC and all Honors classes
• College Algebra, Finite Math, Business Calculus, Calculus 1, 2 and 3, Linear Algebra and Differential Equations
• High School Physics, AP Physics AB/BC and Honors Physics
• College Physics 1 and 2 (both Algebra- and Calculus-based)
• High School and College Introductory Computer Science/Programming (Java, C++, Python)
• Many more -- ask me!

I firmly believe that ANYONE can learn ANYTHING. If you or someone you know believes that they're "not a math person," I encourage you to get in touch with me. I can't promise you miracles, but I CAN promise you clear, detailed instruction from an experienced educator, and the confidence in yourself that you'll need to make what you once THOUGHT would be a miracle into reality.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 is the course with which I have probably the most experience teaching, and my recent students have achieved excellent results. A large number of my current students are taking Algebra 1, so I am familiar with where your student (likely) is in the class material right now.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Most of my current students are in Algebra 2 and 2 Honors, so I’m familiar with where you (probably) are in school now. I’ve been teaching this material since the beginning of my career. Also, this was my best class in high school.
Calculus,

Calculus

I currently work with several students in Calculus 1 and 2, have worked with students in these classes for several years, and use calculus every day in my own work. As a consequence, I am exceptionally prepared to explain the material in a way that makes sense and is easy to understand.
Geometry,

Geometry

I have been teaching and tutoring this class for several years. Additionally, many of my current students are in Geometry, so I am familiar with where they are currently in the material.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I have taught Precalculus in a university setting (Indiana University) and have been a TA and tutor for this class for over 5 years. I take pride in how well my students have gone on to perform at higher levels.
Physics, Statistics

Math

ACT Math,

ACT Math

I took the ACT myself several times and managed to achieve a perfect score when I was a senior in high school. I know how this test works and am familiar with all of the material covered. I have tutored dozens of students in preparation for the ACT and SAT and many have achieved high-percentile scores.

Helpful and Caring

My son's time with Amir was absolutely fantastic! Amir was able to help clarify a concept in AP Calculus AB for my son. He now feels a lot more confident. We are looking forward to continue working with Amir, and we will also be recommending him to others if anyone ever feels like they need to look for a tutor because this man obviously cares for his students.
