Hi there!
My name is Amir, and I've been teaching and tutoring math for over five years -- as a University instructor, a Graduate Teaching Assistant and most recently, a tutoring center employee -- working mostly with high school and college students.
I studied math and physics in college and graduate school (as well as a few other related fields), hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Math (I was a Ph.D. candidate, but left before completing my dissertation), and am currently pursuing a second Master’s degree in Computer Science.
As a student for so long myself, I am confident in my understanding of the subject matter and ability to convey complicated ideas to students in a way that really isn't so complicated. My approach has been effective and appreciated because it involves taking time to carefully explain and justify material and giving lots of examples — basically what I would like from an instructor if I were the student, because I was where you are now not too long ago myself.
There are few things more gratifying to me than seeing the light switch flip on in a student's head. Achieving results in school that they didn't think were possible and seeing them gain confidence in themselves are icing on the cake, but I'm a baker who believes in extra icing.

I firmly believe that ANYONE can learn ANYTHING. If you or someone you know believes that they're "not a math person," I encourage you to get in touch with me. I can't promise you miracles, but I CAN promise you clear, detailed instruction from an experienced educator, and the confidence in yourself that you'll need to make what you once THOUGHT would be a miracle into reality.
