I have been tutoring since 2011 and found that I have a passion for it. I truly enjoy helping students achieve better grades and develop a better understanding of the material. I always look for alternate ways to present the material that each student understands. If one way doesn't work, I try another approach. I prefer to make learning the material as easy as I can. Many of my students have told me that they wished I was their math teacher due to making it easier to understand. I see the material through a student's eyes rather than a teacher's.
I have 3 degrees - two Bachelor's degrees (Business Management and Psychology) and one Master's degree (Psychology). Even though these are not math-related degrees, there was much math involved in attaining them. I was always the student others came to for help, rather than the teacher/professor. I have also been a substitute math teacher at Cranbrook.
I tutor all levels of math through Pre-Calculus. I can do some Calculus, but please ask first. I also tutor Accounting and Economics, as well as ACT (specifically the math section, but can help with the other sections).
I am very flexible with my hours and will work with you in finding the best time depending on my schedule and I am available to tutor all week long. I will travel to you, wherever is most convenient and comfortable for you. If you are not happy with my services or I feel that I was ineffective, I do not charge for that time.
I look forward to working with you and achieving the grades you desire! I have been tutoring since 2011 and found that I have a passion for it. Brian worked with my son on his Algebra 2 homework. When he left, my son felt as though he really understood the information for the first time. He felt comfortable with Brian and we will have him back for further tutoring!
Brian has been working with my freshman son in geometry for about two weeks. He seems to be patient and knowledgeable and our son is comfortable working with him. We are pleased his math grade is improving.
I was failing with an E in Accounting when I first contacted Brian. Brian worked with me on quizzes and exams to help me bring my grade up. He was always patient, and very reliable. I was able to get a passing grade. I highly recommend Brian for tutoring accounting, or any other math class. He will definitely help you get the grade you desire.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a degree in Business Management and understand how businesses run. I have held management positions in various retail environments over the years, performing all tasks necessary to run a business and keeping customers happy. I can share my experiences and explain concepts that may be confusing. I have also helped college students in the past with business-related courses.
