Hello!

My name is Alex, and after retiring early from executive engineering management I now thoroughly enjoy tutoring math, science, and English at all levels. In addition to private tutoring, I work regularly as a tutor at several certified teaching centers in Michigan, and I specialize in teaching learning and time management strategies for general studying and also for optimizing ACT, SAT, GRE, TOEFL, and other tests. I also provide assistance with resume writing, editing of professional texts/essays, dissertation writing, technical reviews, etc.

I am a very good listener, and adapt my teaching style and pace according to your individual needs and preferences. My students tend to improve considerably after some tailored assistance.

My background is in theoretical physics and engineering, where I hold Master's, Civil Engineering, and Doctorate degrees, and as such I have significant experience with algebra, calculus, geometry, trigonometry, and other math sub topics taught at high school and college levels, in addition to a broad science background, particularly in physics and materials science.

I was born and raised in Sweden and have lived in the US for 17 years now. I have published about 40 professional papers and book chapters, presented my work at more than a hundred science conferences around the world, and authored over a dozen patents. I speak four languages and have traveled to more than forty countries, privately and as a technology and engineering leader, and have thus experienced many different cultures and languages. I am also an Air Force veteran. On a personal note, I love all kinds of sports and music and am a voracious reader of a wide variety of literature.

I hope to hear from you and help you achieve your individual goals. A little help can go a long way, and there are no obstacles too large to overcome working together as a team!

I have spent about 15 years as a business professional, managing up to a hundred engineers for a number of years. I have worked with strategic planning, technology roadmaps, budgeting, talent management, and worked across the board with supply chain, legal affairs, human resources, sales, etc. I have published about 40 original research papers and made oral presentations at conferences about a hundred times, almost half of those as an invited or even keynote speaker. My resume contains the salient details.
Public Speaking,

Public Speaking

While getting my doctorate in Physics, during my post-doctorate studies in the US, and for quite a number of years after that, I presented material during speeches at about 100 different venues across the globe. More importantly, I was invited to (paid to) give about 40 presentations, including keynote speeches, at various conferences around the globe. Following that, I routinely presented to executives in multi-billion dollar Fortune 100 and even larger public corporations. This is one of my absolute strengths.

Very good tutor

First lesson was good. Alex gave Mark fundamentals to build upon. He also pointed out some basic issues that will make him a better student. Thanks!

Help for ACT

So far Alexander has been fantastic, my daughter enjoys his style and has progressed well. He is punctual, professional and appears to take great interest in accelerating her learning. She takes her first ACT test this weekend so we will see how it goes.

Great Experience

Alex made a great first impression. My son was able to come away from the first lesson with some helpful tools and things to practice. Alex was knowledgeable on the content, focused, and honed in on the skills that need work. We are excited to continue working with him!

Good, thorough explanation of concepts. Willing to go above and beyond to help him understand the material.

My son felt that he explained things thoroughly and was willing to offer him help after the tutoring session by simply emailing him. I would definitely recommend him.

Just the tutor our son needed!

Our son needed help with essay writing and English language arts. From the first interaction, Alex has been very informative, willing to listen patiently to our sons needs and adapt his lesson plan accordingly. Our son feels very comfortable with the information that is given, as well as the patience displayed by Alex doing the lesson. I have noticed a difference even in the few lessons that we have had delete now. I would definitely recommend Alex as a tutor!
