I have been teaching students in elementary subjects for over ten years. I was a first grade teacher and a fourth grade teacher. Especially love to help students who struggle in reading and computer/iPad usage. I have two grown daughters who have gone on to college. I have a business background but went into teaching in 1999. I received my elementary teaching degree in 2003. I hold a current license in elementary education.
About me: I love to read and camp. Love to teach using technology. I have a special gift connecting to youngsters. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have had several children with this diagnoses in my elementary classrooms over the past ten years. I have prepared lessons and aided children and know how to help them. I also have taken courses in college and through professional development to help children with special needs.
I have experience working in several long-term special needs classrooms (high school and elementary experience) as well as with children with special needs in my elementary classrooms. My elementary degree requires a classroom semester in a special needs classroom. I am very flexible in lesson planning and I have experience providing a variety of learning options for students. I am a patience and nurturing teacher. I have a friend whose grandchild has autism and I have spent some time with him over the years.
I taught bible studies from June 2012 to June 2013 for k-2 grades. I have personally developed lesson plans and games for 5 to 8 children. My Current license is in elementary education.

I use common core practices in my lesson plans, and like to use technology to assist students.

I have taught students study skills in the high school setting. Students must learn vocabulary and have good study skills for test taking. Many of my students have been taught through my teaching career how to take tests. Most the time, this is done through discussion on how to be successful, especially for Meaps testing.
