Central Michigan University (English)
As a life long learner, book lover, and essay writing enthusiast, I am not only highly qualified for, but also thrilled to be tutoring students in all aspects of the English language. I graduated suma cum laude from Central Michigan University in 2015 with a B.S. in Education with a concentration in English and Speech. I am qualified to teach and frequently substitute teach in any English, Speech, Public Speaking, Debate or Communications classroom grades sixth through twelfth.
Although I have yet to have my own English classroom, I am a frequent substitute teacher and spent four months designing and delivering lessons daily in both English and Debate classrooms during my student teaching. I also have ESL tutoring experience through Central Michigan University's English Language Institute, instruction experience through assistant teaching of COM 101 (Introduction to Communication) at CMU, and countless teacher observation hours in several schools all across Michigan and even Dublin, Ireland!
As a self-proclaimed language fanatic, I must admit that although I love literature and the written word, I also love to talk! I am very friendly, personable, and easy going. I have been a server at various restaurants for the past five years, and I love this profession as well because I truly enjoy meeting and speaking to new people everyday.
My favorite book of all time is a tie between J.M. Barrie's magical Peter Pan, Jane Austen's classically romantic Pride and Prejudice, and of course J.K. Rowling's epic Harry Potter series...
My education and passion for language has qualified me to tutor students of all levels in all branches of English: Reading Comprehension, Literature, Writing, ESL/ESOL, Public Speaking, Debate and Communication.
I hope to inspire students to appreciate and even love language as much as I do through a deeper understanding of concepts, techniques, and works of literature. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to learn more :) As a life long learner, book lover, and essay writing enthusiast, I am not only highly qualified for, but also thrilled to be tutoring students in all aspects of the English … Read more
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
