About Casey

I am a certified teacher in the state of Michigan holding endorsements to teach both Elementary K-5 and Special Education K-12 (Learning Disabilities). I recently graduated from Wayne State University with my Masters degree in Reading to become a certified Reading Specialist. Currently, I work part time for a public school district downriver as a K-3 Reading Interventionist. I have four years of additional experience as a Special Education teacher in a public school district in both elementary and secondary schools. I have mainly worked with students who have IEP goals in the areas of reading, writing, and math and who have an IEP due to a learning disability, emotional impairment, autism, cognitive impairment, or other health impairment. But I have also co-taught in a general education setting and instructed classes such as 9th grade English, Advanced Algebra, and Accounting. Along with managing my own resource room, I have a broad range of experience working with a wide variety of students in all grades, and I am looking forward to providing tutoring support to those who need it. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
