University of Michigan (Spanish)
Bueno! Soy Carolina - "Me gusta muchisimo ensenar Espanol!" "I really like to teach Spanish!" I studied Spanish in grade school, high school, and college. However, it was not until I lived in Mexico for a year that the language came to life. While I was there, I taught English as a second language to both children and adults.
I have experience working at a predominantly Hispanic day camp in Detroit leading activities and interpreting for the children, staff, and parents.
While living in Ann Arbor, I also volunteered as an interpreter for a Salvadoran refugee and had fun introducing the community to and interpreting for a Costa Rican student.
For the last five years, I have been working as a Spanish interpreter for a market research company. Throughout all my previous employment, I have been able to incorporate my Spanish skills; something I've found to be very useful and marketable.
I have been a catalyst in my family for encouraging my nieces and nephews to study Spanish. Two have traveled to Spain and one to Costa Rica. One nephew just graduated with a minor in Spanish. It's fun to speak Spanish with them or communicate by email in Spanish. Through Spanish, I was actually able to help a niece overcome a speech impediment. Bueno! I have over 10 years of teaching children's Bible classes (preschool and elementary). Also, in the past 25 years I've taught and/or participated in numerous Vacation Bible Schools.
In addition to teaching, I have been taking Bible Study classes between one to three times a week for the last 25 years.
I love to teach and I would love to share The Bible with whomever wants to learn!
I taught English as a second language for one year in Mexico at a private institute . While there, I also did private tutoring.
I have worked as a para professional for two years in one of Oakland County's School Districts where I gained experience working in the ESL program.
I've also had experience helping teach English to two sisters from Mexico while they were in the state visiting our congregation.
I am a stickler for detail especially when it comes to the English language. I like to find ways that make grammar rules easy to remember so as to make it flow and not about memorization. I've taught English as a second language to both children and adults while living in Mexico.
The most recent student I've tutored was a junior in highschool with a 4.0 grade average. I also have experience in teaching elementary students to adults. I enjoy teaching a variety of students. I've helped nieces and nephews with their Spanish and even helped one overcome a speech impediment by introducing her to Spanish. I have a love of the language and want to share it with others.
I lived in Mexico for one year teaching English as a second language. I have experience as a para pro in helping out with ESL classes. I have experience in translating for Spanish speaking people as well.
Spelling is a fun subject. I enjoy finding ways to enthuse students to learn how to become better spellers.
