My husband and I struggled to help our daughter with her math. She has mild dyslexia, and we just didn't know what to do to help her. In came Mr. T to the rescue! His gentle and mild manner helped our daughter to understand and succeed in math.
She is now the top student in her class and we couldn't be more pleased. He is kind, patient and compassionate in his approach to teaching. My daughter loves the way he explains things. She says,
"He makes it so easy!" I highly recommend Mr. T!
My wife and I are both from Ukraine. We started working with Edward two years ago in order to improve our English skills. He helped me to better communicate with Americans which was a skill I needed in my trucking business. Also, he helped my wife with her classes at a local community college where she is studying accounting. With his help she got an A and a B in two classes and was so pleased with this result. She found him very patient which was important since learning English is very complicated. It is very easy to communicate with Edward because he understands how to teach foreign students. We have recommended him to other Ukrainian friends. They also have praised his teaching skills. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Edward in 2016.
This was the first time meeting Mr T my Granddaughter was very excited about learning and looks forward to her next session.
Mr. Edward was very thorough and helpful. My son was extremely excited to know that Mr. Edward would be his ongoing social studies tutor. He felt more "in-the-know" after just one session. He was able to explain to me what he was not able to explain before his tutoring session. Thank you so much Mr. Edward. I am very blessed to have found an affordable, generous, and flexible tutor for my 7th grader.
Edward is very organized and comes prepared for classes. He helps my son to improve the writing skills.
Math concepts are becoming easier for my daughter. She enjoys how Mr. T explains things and praises her efforts.
Can't asked for better tutor, always on time with the convenience of getting the lessons at home and most important that our daughter improve so much in math, she is at A grade level. Will recommend to anybody who is looking for tutor.
We hired Mr. Edward back in December 2014 for our 12 year old, 7th grader. The changes not only in her grades, but also in her confidence level have been noticed and commented on by all of her teachers. Mr. Edward currently has a standing weekly session with our daughter, but doesn't hesitate to try and accommodate our daughters needs with longer sessions or multiple weekly meetings when needed. He has a very quiet personality which works very well with her and he continues to stays calm and patient with her throughout her lessons. We hope to keep Mr. Edward involved as part of her education as long as he is willing to tutor and our only regret is not finding him sooner.
Even though my daughter has some anxiety she had no trouble being comfortable with Mr. T. She even was paying attention to him which says volumes. He has a calm teaching style that she responds to. I would recommend him.
Mr. Edward is a very patient, nice, and knowledgeable tutor. He is not only helping my son in English and writing but also in other subjects that are needed. I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a tutor. Also, I want to thank Mr. Edward for being such a helpful and flexible tutor to my son.
Edward has been wonderful. We are very pleased with his patience and how well my son has been doing in his English class with his tutoring help.
Edward helps me study for my MTTC writing test. He is very patient and helps me to correct lots of grammatical errors. He will make adjustments and corrections based on your own way of expressing language, which is hard and which is what I want.
You will develop your own language skills in the right way and feel an accomplishment. I am very much enjoying working with Edward. He is also a very nice and gracious person, besides which his fee is very reasonable. I definitely recommend him if you need help with writing as a foreigner.
Edward is very helpful. Actually, he helped me comprehend the whole subject. He is very eager, dedicated, and smart. He utilizes every single minute. He made me feel confident, and I passed the exam. Thanks, Edward.
Ed is an excellent tutor! My husband, who is an English as a Second Language (ESL) student, has been meeting with Ed since the beginning of the semester for assistance with an English class at the community college. Before we met Ed, every assigned reading and paper was a monumental struggle. Once Ed started tutoring him, my husband felt that he was not alone and each task became manageable. Ed's past teaching experience assisted in interpreting articles and the lowest grade on a paper so far has been an 85%. Ed is very patient and doesn't mind going slow in his explanations. As a tutor, he is very professional and arrives promptly for all tutoring appointments. We would have been lost without him!
My son studied and failed the Math portion of the GED twice, Edward tutored him and he passed the math portion of the GED with flying colors he is now thinking about going to college.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Master's Degree from the Unification Theological Seminary in New York. I am an ordained pastor in the Family Church (FFWPU) and have been teaching the Bible for 30 years. I conduct a Bible Study at my home weekly.
I taught both botany and zoology as part of a life science unit during my 14 years of teaching middle-school science. I also minored in botany in college and had extensive experience in plant collecting at that time. In addition, my wife and I maintain a large garden at our home in St. Clair Shores and grow a variety of flowers and vegetables.
I am a recently retired teacher with Detroit Public Schools. My state teacher certification in Elementary Education is still active. I have 14 years experience teaching all subjects in a classroom.
My expertise in English developed because I taught elementary and middle school for 14 years including language arts instruction. My Michigan state certification to teach all subjects at the elementary level is valid until 2017. In addition, for four years I tutored my wife, who was a non-English speaker from Moldova, how to listen, speak, and write in English until she was proficient in the language.
During my university years I minored in political science while majoring in environmental science. Some years after graduation (1987-1992) I took a job as a political lobbyist with the American Constitution Committee and worked with government officials both in Washington, DC and in Lansing, MI. I helped to craft legislation, support political candidates, write articles about political opinions, lead demonstrations, and give speeches about the moral issues of the day.
I have a Master's Degree in Religious Education (MRE) from the Unification Theological Seminary in New York. After graduation, I was assigned as pastor of the Indianapolis Family Church, a position I held for 5 years. For the past 25 years, I have been the assistant pastor of the Metro Detroit Family Church in Warren, while also working as a financial consultant and public school teacher.
Although I did not teach study skills directly, I learned a lot about how to study while completing 1 Bachelor's Degree and 2 Masters' Degrees in college. Also, during my 14 years of teaching in the public schools, I had the opportunity to prepare my students for all sorts of tests and other assessments.
