I am a retired Adjunct Professor of Humanities and Music at a State University, and a Music Instructor for the local Community Non-profit. I also have had a private music studio for 25 years, where I teach violin, viola, piano and clarinet. I have been a strings specialist at a public school, and am currently the founder and director of several youth and adult community orchestras, and have played clarinet, violin and viola semi-professionally, in pit orchestras and symphonies. With my private students, I incorporate a great deal of Music Theory and Music History into the applied lessons.

With my strong Liberal Arts background, I am also qualified to help in the areas of Writing, Reading, Grammar, Spelling and Language Arts. My Bachelor's degree is in Fine Arts Studies with concentrations in Writing, Theater and Music, and my Master's degree is in Humanities, with a Music concentration and coursework in Literature and Art History. I have taught Humanities at the University level, which encompasses a broad look at history, philosophy, art history, music history, literature and civilization from prehistory to the present age.

As an avid lifelong learner, I was able to test out of 84 credits of college-level coursework in subjects ranging from Biology to Spanish to Government, Composition and Algebra, when I returned to college 25 years after my high school graduation. I graduated Magna cum Laude and went on to earn my Master's degree from California State University, where my Thesis was chosen as a finalist in the "Thesis of the Year" award.

I am an experienced teacher with a strong background in everything from one-on-one lessons to lectures of large groups of students. I believe that an engaged teacher gets to know his/her students, and by knowing them, can find multiple ways to present information in a way that allows the student to be successful
