Today's session with Priyanka gave my son a clearer understanding of his upcoming Algebra test. The concepts are difficult for him to understand at school, but when working side-by-side with Priyanka, it clicks for him!
My daughter has her first test on Wednesday so I am waiting to see how she does. I appreciate all the help Priyanka is doing for her!!
My son has been struggling with algebra all year. Priyanka has been working with my son to get him caught up with classmates. His last two tests he has scored a C+ and then a B+. His school district required a placement test to place students in the appropriate math class for next year. Priyanka prepared him for the placement test and he qualified for algebra 2 for freshman year!
My son is comfortable working with Priyanka. She is patient and kind to him and she can be forceful when the situation calls for it.
She has done a great job!
Pri teaches the kids to do things in different ways so the kid can pick the one that makes sense to him or her. This has been invaluable for my son who does not really understand what the teacher is saying a lot of the time. Pri explains it different ways until he gets it.
My daughter and son both enjoyed their recent session with Priyanka. They both appreciated the ease with which she broke the material into something tangible and easy to remember. She was able to explain the intricacies of biochemistry to my daughter very swiftly. Her ability to help my daughter recognize the important and test-able concepts was advantageous as my daughter received her first A in biology for the quarter! She was also able to help my son very patiently understand and reason through his geometry and algebra. Will definitely be using your services Priyanka!
Priyanka has excellent credentials and is highly reviewed on the site, but my experience with her is that she is quite unreliable perhaps because she is over-committed. On many occasions she cancelled or rescheduled classes to the point that I am not using her any more. She displayed a lack of professionalism that I do not expect when I am paying top dollar for her services.
Though this client's student was exceptionally bright and diligent, working with this student was often difficult due to her own schedule. Many times, the student would text a few hours before or at the time of the session to reschedule or cancel. Further, on rescheduled sessions, she would ultimately cancel those sessions. The parent/client may have been under the impression that I had initiated the rescheduling or cancellation. A major weakness I feel was that there was a lack of communication with the parent. Moving forward, if sessions are to be rescheduled, the parent will be notified and provided reason as to avoid any misunderstandings.
She did a great job explaining the areas that my daughter needed help in. Came on time and was helpful.
Thank you for all your support and understanding help out my wife with her project. I know you and her have been working very hard.
Christina felt the session was awesome and gave her a much better foundation for future content. She covered everything thoroughly. It was great match of student to tutor. Thanks Priyanka.
Priyanka was very organized. Despite some initial scheduling problems, my son was well-prepared and received an A on his exam. He benefited from her suggestion to use flashcards.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked with many students with ADD/ADHD. As a tutor, I find that the one-on-one interaction gives the ability to foster a strong interpersonal relationship that gives the student the flexibility to refocus his energy. With students diagnosed with ADD it is essential that we maximize the students' ability to concentrate. I thus teach the students in a calm environment and often give students checklists (agendas) of what they will learn that day, which allows the student to focus more clearly because they can anticipate what will come next.
I tutored biostatistics at Northwestern.
I have worked with many students editing college essays, scheduling tests and guiding students with college selection.
I am a native speaker of Hindi and have tutored many students in the past to help improve their Hindi.
I have successfully prepared many students for this exam. In preparing for the MCATs, my approach is to cover the essentials in all four subjects. With biology, we review the integral concepts tested with respect to mcb and physiology, and practice using questions from EK, TRP, and AAMC. Practice is essential to doing well on the MCATs, and I have helped students raise their scores from 28 to 37.
I am currently a student at Northwestern University majoring in biochemistry. I have tutored many students in orgo and have even TA-ed classes in organic chemistry at Northwestern.
As a tutor, I have helped many students improve their organizational and study habits. During sessions we work on organization and time management, including assignment and grade tracking, organization of papers, binders and personal study area, study planning and goal setting. In addition we work on note-taking skills, covering everything from listening well and following directions, to managing, presenting, and organizing information. I have also worked on reading and studying skills including making use of notes effectively, handling textbooks, reading strategies across school subjects, researching and writing reports, and subject-specific study techniques. We also work on test-taking strategies that include approaching different test question formats, including mcq and essay, and overcome test anxiety
