My experience as a mother raising three children who had very different learning styles and interests has prepared me to work with students who are trying to hone their study skills or focus on a very specific subject. I bring patience and creativity to the table as we together figure out the best way for your child to build their confidence as they traverse their educational years. Having been around children for over 25 years, I recognize that they present with different levels of confidence, focus, and aptitude. My degree in Psychology with a concentration in early childhood development allows for insight that will assist me in best meeting the needs of YOUR child. Creating a relationship of trust is paramount and I look forward to having the opportunity to connect with students with a wide array of ability and aptitude.

Being a life-long reader, my passion translates well as I assist young readers of all capabilities. I believe that discovering what kind of subjects excite a child is the key by introducing and connecting them with different genres. By igniting their interests through different mediums of the written word, we can build confidence in skill and comprehension...and then transfer that to their assignments. My primary goal is to produce a confident and inquisitive reader.

Having raised three children through the public school system as a stay-at-home mom, I have experienced the challenge of meeting the vast and differing needs that children present. I have worked as a substitute teacher in the elementary school setting and understand that every child is unique and has different focus capabilities and learning styles. I enjoy cracking the "puzzle" that sits at the table with me and find it gratifying to see them reach their own potential.

Having launched my last child off to university, I am excited to connect with other students that I can share my passion for learning while creating a trusting relationship where they can flourish and meet their educational goals. Having fun along the way is a bonus I value while getting to know them as individuals.

I have successfully raised three children through public school and was hands-on through their educational years as a stay-at-home mom. Two children were in the Top 10 of their class, the third, Top 25. I recently completely my second degree in Criminal Justice (my first degree is a BA in Psychology with a focus on early childhood development) where I conducted numerous tutoring session with classmates. I understand the need to evaluate each child individually, taking into account their aptitude, focus, drive, and goals. Flexibility is key when tutoring I also substitute taught at my children's elementary school and recognize the immeasurable benefits of having a strong foundation of study skills.
