My name is Vincent and I have been working very hard over the last five years through Wyzant to help students of all ages and backgrounds increase their grades and subject IQ's and in general feel better about their capability to learn Math and Science. I accomplish this with a unique blend of reliability, professionalism, knowledge, personality and most importantly patience. Even though I have received a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and therefore have a solid understanding of any subject connected to the pulse of Science, I have not forgotten what if feels like to not know something. I use this fact in conjunction with a personality developed over a childhood in the film and video industry to help students realize their strengths and focus on their obtainable future and have a good time doing so. Learning can be fun and when that light bulb goes off, it can be very empowering and instill a sense of interest and confidence that can spread like a brushfire to many aspects of one's life. Over the last five years I have had the opportunity and pleasure of working with countless students/parents whom will attest to my dedication and efficacy. I am confident that given the chance, I can add you or your child to my list. Hello,

Very flexible and knowledgeable. In addition to teaching AP Chem to my son he has also solve his difficulty in some area of physics.
Vincent has helped my son tremendously / he has a gift and passion for teaching and is able to explain concepts in ways students can understand.
Vince was flexible with meetings, knowledgeable about the subject matter, and willing to review several times a week when necessary. I'll put it this way: my next calculus exam score was 35% higher after a number of sessions. In short, I wouldn't have passed without him.
Vince has been a great match for our son. He has helped him a great deal in his understanding of chemistry and that in turn has made him more confident about his abilities.
I just wanted to say that Vince R. has been a great tutor for Chemistry and Algebra II for my 16 year old daughter. Since Vince has been tutoring her, her grades have gone up from low C's to high A's in just two months. She now loves both her math and science classes and always strives to beat her last test score. I cannot believe how stress-free my life and her life have become because these two core classes now are so easy for her all with Vince's help.
Vince continues to work wonders with my daughter relative to her Chemistry and Algebra II tutoring. Solid A's on all tests and quizzes. We are so happy! Vince is a great tutor and so flexible with my daughter's active schedule. No words can express how grateful I am to have found Vince on WyzAnt Tutoring!!
Thanks to Vincent, my son reached his goals! He is a great tutor and a very nice guy! I would recommend him to anyone with a teenage son.
Vincent is very knowledgeable about Org Chemistry and has been very helpful to me. I am going to continue with his tutoring and would definitely recommend him as a tutor. He has been prompt and very professional.
We met with Vincent for the first time and were impressed by his style and manner in which he worked with our son. We hope he continues to connect with our child and help him achieve his goals! A very good start and we hope he shows how great a tutor he is by helping our son succeed in one of his favorite subjects!
Vincent has been working with my son for several weeks and I am so very impressed with his dedication and commitment to helping my son learn and understand chemistry. Thanks Vincent!
Vince is an excellent Biology tutor. We would highly recommend Vince to anyone looking for tutoring in the sciences.
Vince helped my son with Chemistry AP. He worked him into his schedule on short notice and was very professional. He is a patient, pleasant tutor.
Vincent really made my son feel comfortable with "not knowing" the chemistry. Once the session was over, I could see that my son felt a sense of relief that he is beginning to understand chemistry. My son even told me the way Vincent explained it to him, he never had anyone explain it so clearly. I'm so glad I found this site! It is truly a blessing for both my son and myself!
Great tutor, I had called him the day before a test and he fit me right in. Very knowledgeable of the information that was presented. Gave me some alternate source suggestions that are better then the current book I am using. Very prompt and professional and responding in a timely manner.. He made sure I understood everything before moving gym in. In two hours I felt like I had a great review for the test I took today. He saved me from failing. Organic is possible when you have Vince as your tutor. By him tutoring me makes me want to succeed and pass up everyone else's grades in my class. Yay organic I am shocked I am saying this.
Vincent is a real personable guy, our tutoring sessions are focused around a pretty specialized topic in organic chemistry. Vince assured me that he would brush up on his organic chemistry and get me to the level where I need to be. Vince has exceeded those expectations. Vince knows what he is talking about he takes concepts from other areas of chemistry and applies them to make it easier for me to understand the topic at hand. Not only is Vince extremely patient with me, he is engaging. Other tutors try and teach out of the book and just preach what I could read out of a text book, Vince makes sure that I actually understand what we are doing, he challenges me with questions and if I tell him I don't know the answer he doesn't get frustrated or impatient he simply finds a different way to explain the subject. Vince is extremely bright and makes you feel like you can achieve what ever it is your goal is as long as you trust that hell get you there. Overall this guy has been awesome and has been such a great help. This guy is the man!!
With exams and finals coming up, the last few chapters I had for my Organic Chem 1 class had me at a loss compared to the previous material. I contacted Vincent last minute and he not only responded promptly to my initial email but really kept in touch with me to set up an appointment and also made time between his busy schedule and mine. The synthesis problems we covered were quite complicated, and though I was familiar with the material, I felt I didn't understand it enough for my upcoming exams...he was patient enough to help me understand each step, synthesis and story problem. Hats off to a tutor that knows what he's talking about.
I understand when Vincent explains it, better than any teacher I ever had! I appreciate his time and patience with me. He also squeezes me into his schedule when I forget I have a test coming up. Thank you!
I had an excellent experience working with Vincent on Chemistry! He was very patient and accommodating and I would highly recommend him.
Vincent R. is a "GREAT tutor! He took the time to see where I needed the most help in chemistry. I feel a little more confident in the metric system and would recommend Vincent to anyone. He has an in-depth knowledge of what he is teaching and an easy teaching style that should suit almost anyone from elementary age students to the college level. I will be using Vincent again.
I am a Freshman at UofM Ann Arbor in Physics 140 and my mom found Vincent to tutor me. He was very flexible with finding time to meet up with me and even came to my house which made it really easy to get work done. Vincent broke down the concepts to a level that I could really understand and really explains what is going on with how to approach problems and trying to understand the concepts. He spent a lot of time with me and I could tell he really enjoyed physics. Vincent really enjoys physics a lot and does not get very many students looking for help in physics and wants to be able to help out students in physics even more. So if you are looking for a physics tutor, Vincent has passion for the subject and definitely wants his students to learn about physics.
Vince is currently tutoring our son in Algebra 2. His grades have definitely improved and he is better able to understand the material. Vince is easy to work with. He is flexible with his scheduling and can always find time to tutor. He arrives prepared to tutor whatever algebra problems my son is having. Highly recommended.
I was having a hard time in AP Chemistry. I did well in regular Chemistry, but AP was just too fast of a pace for me. So I got myself a tutor. After the first session I felt a lot more confident in the material. Vincent made sure that I knew the basics, and when I got those down we went more in detail. He is able to explain the material in a way that you just naturally grasp the information. He organizes the lesson so one concept helps explain the next. He also understands the material very, very well. No matter what type of question I throw at him he can explain it so I understand it clearly. I have had several science tutors in my high school career and I can confidently say that Vincent is no doubt the best one I have had.
My student is a kinesthetic learner, one who learns by touch and doing. Vincent spent the first sessions explaining concepts and was then able to adjust his style so my student had her hands on the pencil and was able to work and write and solve the problems with his guidance to related concepts. She went from lost to a better understanding of fundamental aspects of Chemistry. Thank you, Vincent!
Quick to respond to our short notice need. Our daughter had a better understanding of the material and was much more confident going into her AP Chemistry test. I highly recommend Vincent and would request him again.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
The ACT Math section is nothing more than an IQ test in Math up to and including the Algebra levels of understanding. While strategies do play a role in improving your score, they pale in comparison to a solid understanding of the fundamentals. I work hard to make sure my students increase there overall math IQ within the context of strategies and this inevitably leads to higher scores.
My approach to Algebra 2 is always two fold. I work hard to make sure a student has the basic skills to realistically progress throughout the class while maintaining current work levels. I do this through a set of uniquely written practice problems and exercises that I have written that I can send off the clock that are designed to increase overall Math IQ.
Doing well on the ASVAB is all about having a fundamental yet confident understanding of Math, English, and Science. Doing practice ASVAB questions will only get you so far. What I offer is a basic assessment to gauge the level of understanding of each of the subjects so the proper starting point is realized so future learning is sustainable and long lasting.
I offer a detailed understanding of cellular processes such as Photosynthesis, respiration and the biochemistry that involves basic cellular function and transcription and translation.
My approach to Calculus is always two fold. I work hard to make sure a student has the basic skills to realistically progress throughout the class while maintaining current work levels. I do this through a set of uniquely written practice problems and exercises that I have written that I can send off the clock that are designed to increase overall Math IQ leading ultimately to the Calculus level. I also have check point quizzes so if given enough time I can show a tangible record of progression. I have been successful with this approach because it does not require hours a day, but it does require a little bit everyday.

Organic chemistry is regular Chemistry in three dimensions. I work hard to ensure that all of my students understand enough general chemistry to be able realistically make the transition to Organic. I do this with a detailed review of electronegativity, lewis structures and formal charges. Then I slowly make a transition to reaction mechanisms and tendencies and other concepts in Organic Chemistry so that all future work has a foundation of understanding.

My approach to Prealgebra is always two fold. I work hard to make sure a student has the basic skills to realistically progress throughout the class while maintaining current work levels. Once I assess a students Math IQ, I put them into the appropriate starting position along the progressive math highway to success. Studying a foreign language is all about being able to be connected to more people in the world. My approach to Spanish for the beginner is simple. I work very hard at the beginning to make sure that my students learn how to pronounce the words and expressions properly and with eye contact and fluidity. Next i move on to the anatomy of a sentence. A sentence expresses an idea and that idea is made up of individual words acting together and each has a part and an identity: noun, pronoun, subject, verb, etc. I will work very hard to make sure you understand this concept and then all you have to do is fill in the blanks with memorization or access to your English/Spanish " diccionario."
