Western Michigan University (Psychology)
Throughout high school, I was a nanny for 3 children. As I watched them grow up, I helped raise them as well. Helping them through school was very rewarding. It's amazing to be a part of someone else's educational success. I would help them with homework, assignments, projects, etc. When they would come home with A's they would be as happy as ever which makes the hard work worth it!
I was also a tutor for a student who was in 8th grade at the time. She needed help with algebra and botany. I helped her through her courses for months and at the end of the semester she was thrilled to pass her classes with A's.
I would love to be a part of your success as well. Let's get some A's!
As I was growing up and in grade school, I excelled in my math courses. Algebra was always my strongest section in math. I was in AP Algebra 2 when I was a senior in High School. During the summer after that year, I helped my Algebra teacher run a tutoring class for incoming freshmen.
I recently graduated with my bachelors in psychology from Western Michigan University. I know extensive knowledge on the subject matter and I am quite confident I can spread this knowledge successfully to others.
In my undergrad I studied a year of ASL. I did not have a specific reason to, I was always just fascinated by the language and the culture. It is a phenomenal language to study, I would love to further teach others ASL as well.
I've always excelled in English courses. In high school I was in AP English for years and was also places in advances writing courses. English is a subject I've just always had an extra interest in. I adore reading and analyzing novels, although my English knowledge spreads much further than just novel study.
Aside from my multiple years of art classes in high school, I also minored in Art in college. Being a part of the Frostic School of Art at Western Michigan University was amazing. I learned so much from my professors. I often like to teach my friends how to draw or paint; I just love to teach.
I have an abundance of knowledge in these subjects but aside from that, I am also very laid-back and outgoing. This tutoring will not be boring, I will bring energy and excitement to the table. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
While completing my bachelor's at Western Michigan University, my minor of study was Art. I studied drawing, painting, ceramics and sculpture for two years. Three of my drawings were chosen by my professors to be held in an art show.
