I am going into my 13th year as a teacher this fall. I have taught several different grades throughout my teaching career. I have taught Preschool, 1st grade, 5th grade as well as 6th grade. I also taught physical education and art! I feel I am knowledgable in these grade levels. I am also willing to learn other grade levels as needed. In addition, I worked at a child care center while in college so I have experience with just about all ages.
I am a mom to one daughter! She is going into her second year of college. I have a little tutoring experience but also am very eager to learn anything I might need to know to do a good job. I continue to strengthen my teaching skills by reading books, articles, attending conferences, keeping up to date with current research as well as taking college classes. I also enjoy looking for new ideas on popular educational websites such as Teachers Pay Teachers and teaching blogs.
I enjoy teaching elementary math! I love when I am teaching math to my students and they get it! When they don't get it, I use a variety of teaching methods to help them. I enjoy teaching younger children by hands on techniques and games. That way they are learning and having fun at the same time.
I enjoy teaching reading. I love talking about books with kids. I love it when they love reading. When kids don't love reading, I try to make it fun for them. I have had some reading courses which have helped me to teach reading better. I also am constantly researching the best way to teach reading.
I enjoy teaching elementary children. I love this age because they are so eager to learn. My undergraduate, graduate and continuing education classes all have to do with elementary education. All of my experience is with elementary children. I feel I am kind, patient and willing to listen to what children need help with.
I taught first grade for four years. During this time, I taught a lot of phonics. There are so many ways to teach phonics. Not all children learn the same way. As a teacher and /or tutor, it is my job to figure out which way is best! There are so many fun games to teach phonics by!! Kids (especially young kids) learn best by "doing" and hands on experiences. I love that look kids get when they are struggling and then they get it!!
In conclusion, I am a dependable, caring and knowledgeable teacher to help you and your child be successful next school year. I firmly believe all children can learn!! I am a mom myself and I treat my school kids as I would want my own daughter treated. I truly enjoy what I do during the school year. I enjoy learning new ideas and using them so children can learn. I am going into my 13th year as a teacher this fall. I have taught several different grades throughout my teaching career. I have taught Preschool, 1st grade, 5th
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught elementary grades for 12 years. I have experience in Kindergarten, 1st, 5th and 6th grades. I enjoy teaching all subjects including Reading and Math. I also value staying current with new teaching methods by reading books, researching online, and trying out new lessons and activities. Not all children learn the same way, so sometimes I must change it up! :)
