About Thomas

My name is Thomas. Not only am I a pastor of a local church in Michigan, I am also very proficient (7th-degree black belt) in the art of self-defense (Kung-Fu; and various other forms of martial arts). I have been a student and instructor since my early childhood (over 40 years of experience and instructing).

I am also proficient (over 35 years) as a tennis player, coach, and private instructor. I have coached both at the high school and collegiate level tennis, as well as instructing private lessons. I worked under the auspices of the USTA (United States Tennis Association) for their summer tennis program known as NJTL (National Junior Tennis League).

As an avid reader, I have also tutored (privately) students in English grammar (spelling, sentence structure, writing, etc.). If you are looking for a man of character, honesty, and commitment, I believe I can help meet your needs.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Baseball

I have years of baseball experience, both as a player and coach. As an out fielder, the coaches saw the strength of my arm and was moved into the position of pitcher and catcher. I was able to play all three positions with proficiency. Years later, I was asked to coach several T-Ball and Little League baseball teams, as well as the Pony Leagues. I enoy teaching young boys and girls the thrill of baseball, both for mental and physical wholeness. As a coach I have seen young boys and girls mature in the athletic prowess as well as spiritual, mental, and physical wholeness.

Bible Studies

As a graduate of Biola Univeristy (BA in Biblical Studies) and Talbot Seminary (M.Div. in pastoral ministries and theology) I teach and preach regularly in all topics of the Bible. On occasions I also teach Biblical Greek and Hebrew. I am well versed in the of Old and New Testament Survey and most Books of the Bible.

Martial Arts

I have been a student of the martial arts (Kung-fu, Tae-Kwando, and Hwarang-do) since my early childhood. I am a seventh-degree black belt in Kung-fu, a second-degree black belt in Tae-Kwando, and a fifth-degree black belt in Hwarang-do).

Over the many years I have given group and private lessons. Group lessons were situated in do-jos as well as parks. Individual lessons included law enforcement officers as well as the general public.

Public Speaking

As an educator (high school teacher); assistant to professors in a collegiate setting, and pastor of a local church, I have done extensive public speaking (conferences, Sunday worship services, instructor, etc.) as well as in the private sector as a tutor, helping to clarify ambiguous concepts to students.

Tennis

I have played tennis since my junior high (middle school now). I was given lessons by a semi-pro while in high school, and professional lessons from the famed Arthur Ashe at the Bunker Hill Towers in Los Angeles during my collegiate years where I was a collegiate player and collegiate player-coach.

I have given lessons in a private and group settings; head coach of both high school and for the NAIA collegiate division. I am very adept in this sport.
