Hi, I'm Peyton! I recently graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's of Science in Physics from Michigan State University. During my time as a student, I was deeply involved in the physics community at MSU. I was an active member of the Society for Physics Students for several years, where I had the opportunity to communicate with many other students and professors in the physics program about research and how physics is taught in every level of schooling.

I also gained significant research experience while I was in school. I was a research assistant for three years at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory studying nuclear physics, and shortly after graduating worked as a research assistant at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory studying particle physics. In these positions, I learned how to hone my physics and math skills as well as apply them to hands on research. Through research, I was able to see firsthand how abstract math and science skills are applied in the real world. So, when students wonder "Why do I need to learn this? When will I ever use math in real life?", I tell them, "You can make a whole career out of these skills!"

I also gained experience teaching college age students in two different ways. First, I was a tutor with the Greater University Tutoring Service, working as a tutor for large groups of students taking College Algebra. I would host weekly study sessions, where the students could bring in any homework assignments or exams and get help with specific problems, as well as provided general instruction on topics they were having trouble understanding. In my senior year of college, I worked as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for an upper level electronic physics lab, where I was in charge of grading and providing assistance to students. Through working as a grader, I was able to really see what topics or types of problems stumped a large number of students, as well as see firsthand what concepts a specific person may need help with.
