I have studied Spanish for seven years and was a volunteer teacher in a Spanish immersion preschool for one year in Ann Arbor. I have traveled to Mexico, Honduras, Belize, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and spent one month studying advanced Spanish at the University of Havana in Cuba. In high school, I received a score of 5 on the AP Spanish exam.
My ACT English score was a 35, ACT Reading was a 30. On the AP English Language exam I received a score of 5. I study English literatures, language, and writing in college and work as a writing consultant at Central Michigan University's Writing Center where I tutor undergraduate and graduate students. Additionally, I was a staff writer for an online newspaper, FreshU, and in the upcoming year will serve as editor-in-chief for the Honors magazine at Central Michigan University. My college essays earned me admission at University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and helped me to win the Centralis full-tuition scholarship at Central Michigan University.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
