Hello my name is Amanda. With over 19 years of teaching experience, I have a natural desire to help struggling students find academic success, boost their confidence, and believe in themselves.
I graduated from Central Michigan University with a Secondary Education Degree majoring in English and minoring in Earth Science. I then went on to attend Saginaw Valley State University and obtained a K-12 Special Education Special Education Endorsement in Emotional Impairments and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership.
I have a wide variety of teaching experiences that include: 2 years of substitute teaching, 2 years of Middle School Center-Based Emotionally Impaired classroom teaching, 10 years of high school special education teaching, 6 years of high school general education teaching, 6 years of high school Summer School and Credit Recovery teaching. With this experience, I have worked with students with varying ability levels in nearly every grade level and in nearly every subject matter.
My areas of expertise includes working with Middle and High School General Education, At-risk, and Credit Deficient students, as well as students with Learning Disabilities, Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, and ADHD/ADD in the areas of English, reading, writing, Earth Science, and Biology.
Currently, I am a teacher in an Alternative Education School setting. I provide one-on-one, small group instruction and academic supports to Special Education, General Education, and At-risk Middle school, High school, and Adult Education students. These students are using an online-learning, project-based platform to complete courses in English, math, science, social studies, and health in order to earn a high school diploma.
