I am a certified special education teacher with nineteen years of experience. My current teaching position gives me the opportunity to work with students from kindergarten through fifth grade. I love working with children and fostering their love for learning. Every student can learn and it is my job to individualize education to make that happen.
I strongly believe in differentiated instruction. Differentiating instruction is an approach to maximize the potential of each student, and ensure that all students have access to education. My teaching advocates active planning and ongoing assessments. My lessons are based on the students' needs.
I aim to foster conceptual understanding, developing children’s procedural math literacy, and promoting strategic competence through meaningful problem-solving investigations. For pre-kindergarten through second grade, I provide instruction that helps them understand patterns and measurement and develop a solid understanding of the numeration system. In the upper elementary years, I encourage students to develop and investigate solutions to everyday problems. My instruction focuses on the relationship between such processes as addition and multiplication, and subtraction and division. Students will be introduced to multiplicative reasoning, equivalence, and a variety of methods for computation.

I aim to include the strongest elements of each.

I am excited to share the knowledge I acquired at The Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) training. LLI is a powerful, short-term intervention, that provides intensive instruction, which supplements classroom literacy teaching. LLI turns struggling readers into successful readers with engaging leveled books and fast-paced, systematically designed lessons. I use this program in my resource room with great success. I would love to offer tutoring sessions using these strategies as well.
