About Veronica

I provide private violin, viola and fiddling lessons for students ages 3 through adult. An experienced teacher with bachelor's and master's degrees in music performance, I will tailor lessons to the learning style and interests of your student. I have extensive knowledge of the Suzuki method and am happy to focus on teaching by ear for students who have not yet learned to read music.

I earned my Bachelor's in Instrumental Performance from Western Michigan University and my Master's in Performance from Florida State University. I've taught students with a wide range of experience and skill levels both on an individual basis and in sectionals or group classes. As a counselor at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, I taught a Music Appreciation course for middle school students. In addition to Classical Music, I also have a strong interest in Irish Fiddling and Improvisation.

Typically I encourage students to schedule lessons once per week, the length of the lesson will vary from half an hour to an hour depending on the student's previous experience with their instrument. Please contact me if you're looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and versatile teacher!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Music History

I've earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in music performance, completing extensive music history related coursework at both the undergraduate and graduate level. This past summer I taught a Music Appreciation class for middle school students at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, where I covered basic music theory and an overview of Western Classical Music of the past 200 years. My particular areas of interest are Early Music (classical music from 1750 and earlier) and new music (music from living composers).

Violin

I've earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in music performance, studying both violin and viola during my undergrad and focusing on viola in graduate school. I have extensive experience teaching violin and viola lessons both on an individual basis and in group settings. My most recent teaching experience includes leading viola sectionals as a counselor at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and providing private lessons for college-level students as a graduate assistant at Florida State University.
