About Adam

I'm a physicist at the accelerator on campus, a biotechnology entrepreneur, and the guy who's going to get you the grade you want in science, math, or engineering.

I'm just a dude who's really passionate about math, science, engineering, and education. I've got seven years' experience teaching and tutoring at the collegiate level and I've never had a student just not "get it." What I usually find is that if someone thinks a topic is difficult, it just means they weren't taught correctly. Science and math are contact sports. You don't learn them well by listening to a teacher drone on at the front of a classroom.

I'm not just a teacher---I'm a practicing scientist and engineer. What this means is I actually use this stuff. I didn't just graduate with no understanding of the real world. So if you want a tutor who actually knows what he's doing, I'm your guy.

I know how hard math can be if you're not a "math person." I've spent years breaking it down, making things easy for my students. I'm a scientist and an engineer. I use this stuff all the time. I know it inside out and backwards. I don't have a one-size-fits all approach----your learning style is my style. I enjoy the challenge.

I have degrees across disciplines and have conducted research in all three fields. What that means is that I understand how each category works with the others. I also understand how whatever you're learning will actually be useful. Frustrated because you'll never need to know that? I'll show you why it's important and give you an easy way to remember it.

If you're struggling in a class and can't keep your head above water, contact me! It's never too late to fix what your teacher made unnecessarily difficult.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemical Engineering

I am a practicing chemical engineer. I have an MS in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota, a top 5 institution in the field. I am published in several journals associated with chemical engineering and synthetic biology.

Differential Equations

My undergraduate degree was in physics, with a concentration in applied physics which I took in the mechanical engineering department. As a physics major, I needed to know differential equations well, since they form the basis of our physical description of the world (i.e., Maxwell's equations). They are also key to concepts in mechanical engineering, such as the Euler equations in fluid mechanics.

Mechanical Engineering

My undergraduate degree was in physics, with a concentration in applied physics which I took in the mechanical engineering department. This concentration allowed me to take the entire mechanical engineering core curriculum at Notre Dame, minus the senior design project. I continued my education with an MS in chemical engineering, which has overlapping concepts with mechanical engineering in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and material properties.

Great explanations — He helped me get through the concept of derivatives and easy work though the concept- was attentive and held good life examples of uses. ...
